Review – Starboard 11’2 Blend Zen

Starboard is a SUP company very much at the forefront of SUP design and with premium products such as the Starboard Allstar range their designs and attention to detail has filtered down into the Inflatable SUP market. Starboard have continuously improved there boards and in 2017 we saw the biggest change with the Introduction of the ZEN constructions and Deluxe constructions. Out of the bag the Starboard Astro Blend Zen is both eye catching and well built. With its striking Blue and Green graphics a much improved looked from the 2016 range. The Starboard 11'2 Blend Zen comes with a tri- fin set up that is moulded into the board, these are a great option for paddlers who want nothing to worry about the Fins are flexible and durable which is important when your paddling such locations as lakes and rivers. They also work well if you have children who want to just jump up and down on your board regardless of where its been put down!, this can be a catastrophe if its on tarmac with a single fin set up.

Review – Fanatic 12’6 Ray Air

Fanatic’s Ray Air Touring range has been growing and improving with the 12’6 Ray air one of the boards fanatic has focused on as its a fantastic gateway size and shape for riders looking to experiment with a more pure touring outline. Fanatic have introduced the Ray Air in 2 different constructions and also in 2 different sizes. We have been testing the 12’6” x 32, this size is more than ample to take a beginner intermediate rider and give them their first touring board experience. The 12’6” Ray air has been improved over the years and now sports a narrower tail which offers better Turning when stepping back, and also a better release of water to assist the speed and directional stability.
