The Starboard All Star is nothing short of an icon in the world of stand up paddleboard racing; hands down the most successful racing paddleboard of all-time. This record demonstrates just how versatile this race board is as well as how ease it is access all of its thoroughbred performance regardless of your paddling level.

The Starboard Allstar comes in a range of sizes which encompass a broad range of rider weights and skill levels. The 24.5” and wider are suited well suited to heavier riders and those looking for more stability, while the 23” and the new 21.75” are for those higher-skilled paddlers as well as lighter riders.

For 2023, the Starboard All Star features a new narrower outline but does not sacrifice stability. For instance the new narrower 21.75” has even more stability than its predecessor – the 22.5”.

This refined narrower outline is made possible but also having a new narrower nose section with a sharper V section as well as a narrower tail section. The nose now carves its way through the water maximising overall waterline length and speed as well as improving tracking. All of this while retaining that well-proportioned volume as well as the trade mark flared nose which delivers in the bumps; this delivers on flat water particularly when sprinting as well as downwind by preventing nose diving.

The new narrower outline also features a tail section of the Starboard All Star that is reduced in width. This increases acceleration and glide and helps lift the nose over swell upwind. The new tail also makes it more reactive to turn direction downwind and easier to sink for buoy turns.

The underside of the Allstar has also been modified, with the centre vee height being lowered to create a flatter overall bottom shape. This reduces rolling from rail to rail, increasing overall stability and tracking. In addition, the rail edge towards the tail has been softened to make the Starboard All Star more responsive to paddler inputs when wanting to change direction and steer the paddleboard downwind.

While the rails and standing area of this Allstar range see the return of the generous dugout design lower paddler centre of gravity as well as delivering a secure locked in feel. This combines with a very boxy, slab side rail that results in masses of stability.

Refined, sharper, faster and easier to use than ever before; the Starboard Allstar is set to continue its dominance as the go to all water performance race board.

The Starboard Allstar is in two different constructions; Wood Carbon or Carbon Sandwich. These construction technologies are quite different and this is reflected in the price.

The Starboard Wood Carbon construction combines performance and great value at an amazing weight. While the Starboard Carbon Sandwich is the no compromise, high performance, lightweight, premium race paddleboard construction.

The Starboard Wood Carbon construction features –

  • A Uni Directional Carbon-reinforced standing area provides extra durability and stiffness at the greatest impact zone. Australian Pine reinforcement runs the full length of the standing area giving additional strength and resistance against heels dents forming over time.
  • Uni Directional carbon rail bands encase the rails of the Allstar, making the paddleboard longitudinally stronger and providing faster reflex and stiffness.
  • S-Glass is used extensively in the Wood Carbon construction. A full wrap of plain weave 140g grade S-Glass delivers great impact resistance for its weight and also provides a good flex pattern.
  • Paint adds weight. The Wood Carbon uses 33% less paint sprayed on the deck, rail and bottom of the board.
  • EPS Foam core with a 15 KG/M³ density. Shear resistant, fused and moulded for each Starboard model means zero EPS waste as Starboard strive towards their marketing leading green company values.

The Starboard Carbon Sandwich Technology has been improved year on year since its introduction in 2011. The Carbon sandwich combines the superior strength and stiffness properties of carbon fibre and the proven quality of a EPS foam core with tactical layers PVC layers. The features are -

  • Wrapped in carbon; a light weight 100g biaxial carbon is selected, then laminated over the standing area and full bottom. While 150g biaxial carbon wraps the nose and rail.
  • High Density PVC is used extensively in the stand area as well as across the entire underside of the board. This reduces the need for additional heavy resin while increasing the strength.
  • Uni directional carbon stringers are placed in the rail in the mid section of the board to ensure its remains incredibly stiff when underload, particularly important during sprint paddling phases of a race.
  • Impregnated paint; did you know paint on a 14ft board can weigh as much as 1.2kg. Starboard’s impregnates its resin with colour during manufacture, reducing weight as well as making you board look great for long as there is no paint to scratch or chip.
  • EPS Foam core with a 15 KG/M³ density. Shear resistant, fused and moulded for each Starboard model means zero EPS waste as Starboard strive towards their marketing leading green company values.
