The Starboard Touring has always been a firm favourite of ours at The SUP Company. Derived from Starboard’s performance heritage; racing-inspired design results in efficiency, stability and versatility in a highly useable paddleboard. Now available in all-new Lite Tech, the Starboard Touring has never been so affordable and light on your wallet.
Well suited to paddlers up to 115kg, the Starboard Touring Lite Tech offers an extremely predictable yet versatile ride due to its width and use of a bottom shape similar to that of the most successful race paddleboard in history, the Starboard Allstar. The mono-concave bottom features a deep centre channel that funnels water smoothly from the nose to the tail, generating good amounts of lift and speed. While a chamfered rail edge aids stability and tracking which is further enhanced by a sharp nose with the slightest nose rocker, combining to give a locked-in feeling that is a joy to watch as it parts the water and folds around its surface.
Back for 2023, we have the hugely popular Starboard Lite Tech – making Starboard’s famed performance affordable to all. Selecting a 15kg/m3 precision moulded fused cell core Starboard are able to replicate the exact shape of the Starboard Touring while ensuring a strong core material that is highly water-resistant while remaining hard and strong on its outer surface. Additional rigidity has been designed into the paddleboard through the introduction of unidirectional stringer bands with added rail and nose reinforcements. While Australian pine has been selected for the standing area to provide extra deck impact resistance in this critical area. Starboard’s credentials as a leader in environmentally sound manufacturing are also featured in the Lite Tech, its most affordable construction, as the fin boxes are moulded with extra strong Akulon Eco, made from upcycled fishing nets, and then wrapped high-density foam which is sandwiched in over a 1000 grams of glass reinforcements. The deck is also 'green' as it features a deck pad with crocodile skin texture made with recycled EVA from post-industrial waste which actually has higher UV resistance than virgin EVA, while the handle is moulded for easy carrying and made from recycled ABS.
