The Duotone D/LAB Foil Assist Set is the top-of-the-tree option in the Foil Assist line-up. It takes the same clever concept as the aluminium set – motor in the mast, batteries on your waist – and upgrades the mast to D/LAB carbon construction for maximum stiffness, minimum drag and the most precise feedback under your feet.
You still ride your favourite foilboard and wings. The batteries sit in the eHarness around your waist; the motor lives inside the slim 84cm mast. Pull the trigger on the eRemote Watch Ring for a smooth, controllable push to get you flying in lighter winds, save blown take-offs, link more waves or cruise back upwind. Release the trigger and the folding prop tucks away so you can enjoy pure, silent glide.
If you already foil and care about feel, this is the set that gives you electric help without compromising performance.

Battery runtime & charging
Your real-world runtime depends on rider weight, board volume, foil size and how hard you use the power, but as a guide:
Most riders can expect around 45 minutes of meaningful assisted use per set of batteries.
Lighter riders on larger, efficient wings at moderate speeds may see closer to 55 minutes.
Heavier riders, or those pushing smaller / faster foils at higher speeds, may be nearer 35–40 minutes.
The included Smart Charger manages cell balance and voltage and typically delivers a fast charge in about 45 minutes from low charge. Look after the packs and you can expect hundreds of cycles of solid performance.
Travel & airline use
Each battery is rated at approximately 159.6Wh, deliberately chosen to sit just under the commonly used 160Wh limit many airlines use for lithium batteries. That makes destination trips with your D/LAB Foil Assist genuinely realistic, as long as you:
Carry the batteries in hand luggage,
Protect the terminals, and
Comply with your airline’s specific rules and approval process for lithium packs.
For frequent trip takers, this is a big tick in the D/LAB system’s favour.
Foil compatibility via fuselage adapters
The D/LAB mast uses standard US track mounting for the board, and a fuselage adapter system at the foil end. With the right adapter fuselage, your Foil Assist mast can drive foils from a huge range of brands, including:
- Duotone
- Axis
- F-One
- Lift
- North
- Code
- Gong
- Sabfoil
- AFS
- KT
Plus a dedicated eFuselage Armstrong for Armstrong riders.
This is what makes the D/LAB set so compelling if you already own a quiver – one premium carbon Assist mast becomes the engine for almost everything you ride.
Safety, ergonomics & eHarness sizing
The D/LAB set shares the same safety-first design as the AL version:
The folding prop deploys under power and closes when you release the trigger or fall, cutting thrust and reducing drag and risk around the foil.
The eHarness carries the batteries close to your body, keeping the board light and free; it’s buoyant and non-water-absorbing, so it doesn’t soak up water or sag.
A magnetic connector makes clipping in intuitive, while a quick-release ensures you’re never trapped if you need to get out in a hurry.
Sizing is simple:
S–M (71–89 cm / 28″–35″): slimmer riders, teens, smaller adults, most summer-suit setups.
L–XXL (89–114 cm / 35″–45″): broader waists, thicker winter suits, or anyone who prefers more overlap and padding.
Measure around your waist/hips where the harness will sit, over your usual wetsuit. If in doubt or mainly riding in thicker winter rubber, go L–XXL.
Who it’s for
The Duotone D/LAB Foil Assist Set is aimed squarely at riders who already foil and are picky about feel:
Performance wing foilers who want to run smaller boards and higher-aspect wings in lighter winds.
Advanced prone surfers who want reliable assist into waves on compact boards, then pure, responsive glide once flying.
Downwind and bump riders who love the feeling of endless glide but don’t always want to grind out the paddle-up.
Experienced pump and wake foilers who want to extend sessions, explore new spots and have a safety net for returns.
If you’re just learning to foil, the AL set or Cruise Complete packages might be a better starting point. If you’re already comfortable and simply want the best-feeling assist mast money can buy, this is the one.
Why it stands out
D/LAB carbon mast: lighter, stiffer and lower drag than aluminium, with noticeably crisper feedback.
Mast-integrated motor + waist-mounted batteries: electric help without turning your setup into a heavy e-foil.
Huge foil compatibility via adapter fuselages – electrify the Axis, Lift, F-One, North, Code, Gong, Sabfoil, AFS and KT wings you already own.
Travel-aware battery spec opens the door to destination foiling trips with assist.
Designed for real-world conditions – not just glassy tropical promo days – so it feels at home in messy UK wind and swell.
