Wing bladder spares, chosen properly

Wing bladders are not universal. A leading edge bladder for one wing model may look similar to another, but the valve layout, tube shape, size and year-specific fit can be different. That is why this collection is built around proper replacement parts rather than guesswork.

Use this page to find the right bladder or repair spare, then check the product options carefully. If anything is unclear, send us the wing brand, model, year, size and a photo of the damaged area and we will help you narrow it down.

How to choose the correct wing bladder

The most important thing is to match the replacement bladder to the exact wing. Before ordering, check:

  • Brand, for example Duotone.
  • Wing model, such as Unit, Slick, Float or Ventis.
  • Model year, as spare parts can change between seasons.
  • Wing size, for example 4m, 4.5m, 5m or 6m.
  • Bladder position: leading edge / front tube or centre strut.
  • Valve type and pump system compatibility.

If you are not 100% sure, do not guess. A close-looking bladder can still be wrong if the valve position or tube shape does not line up properly.

Front tube bladder vs strut bladder: what is the difference?

The front tube bladder, often called the leading edge bladder, sits inside the main inflatable frame of the wing. It gives the wing its structure and helps hold the shape under load.

The strut bladder sits inside the centre strut. It supports the handles or boom area and helps keep the canopy stable while riding.

If the wing loses pressure quickly, first identify where the leak is coming from. A leak around the leading edge needs a front tube bladder or front tube repair. A leak through the centre strut needs a strut bladder, valve or strut-specific repair.

When should you replace a bladder instead of repairing it?

Small, clean punctures can often be repaired, especially if they are away from valves, seams and high-stress areas. A full replacement bladder is usually the better route when:

  • The leak is close to a valve or welded area.
  • The bladder has split, stretched or twisted badly.
  • A previous repair is no longer holding pressure.
  • The wing loses air during a normal session.
  • You want the cleanest long-term repair rather than repeated patching.

For many riders, replacing the correct bladder is the most reliable way to get a favourite wing back on the water.

  • Try: If you are upgrading rather than repairing, our demo options can help you compare wings, boards and foil setups properly.
  • Advise: Send us your wing model, year, size and a photo of the damaged area so we can help identify the right spare.
  • Ride: The aim is simple: repair the right part, avoid wasted spend and get your wing back on the water with confidence.

Wing Bladders FAQs

How do I know which wing bladder to buy?

Match the bladder to the exact brand, model, year, size and bladder position of your wing. For example, a 5m wing needs the 5m replacement bladder for that specific model and year. If you are unsure, contact us before ordering.

Are wing bladders universal?

No. Wing bladders are normally model-specific and size-specific. Valve positions, tube shapes and connection points can vary, so a bladder that looks similar may still be the wrong fit.

Can I fit a replacement wing bladder myself?

Many riders can fit a replacement bladder themselves, but it needs care and patience. The bladder must sit flat inside the wing with no twists, and the valve must line up cleanly before full inflation. Inflate slowly at first and check everything before taking it to full pressure.

Should I replace the bladder or just patch it?

A small, simple puncture can often be patched. Replacement is usually better if the leak is near a valve, on a stressed area, on a seam, or if a previous repair has failed. A new bladder can be the cleaner and more reliable fix.

What is a front tube bladder?

The front tube bladder sits inside the leading edge of the wing. It is the main inflatable section that gives the wing its structure. If this section is leaking, you need a front tube / leading edge repair or replacement bladder.

What is a strut bladder?

The strut bladder sits inside the centre strut of the wing. This section supports the handles or boom area and helps the wing keep its shape while riding.

Do I need to know the model year of my wing?

Yes, where possible. Spare parts can change between model years, even if the wing name stays the same. If you are unsure of the year, send us photos and any markings on the wing and we will help identify it.

Can The SUP Company help me choose the right bladder?

Yes. Send us your wing brand, model, size, year if known, and photos of the damaged area. We can then help you work out which replacement bladder or valve is the best match.
