Kitesurf

Kitesurf at The SUP Company

Kitesurfing is one of the fastest ways to turn a windy forecast into a proper session — from first waterstarts on flat water to carving swell lines and sending big airs when the conditions light up. This collection brings together kites, twintips, bars, harnesses, leashes, trainer kites and the small-but-critical accessories that keep you riding (instead of missing a windy weekend because you’re waiting on parts).

If you’re new to the sport, we’ll help you keep it simple: stable, predictable kit that builds confidence and progression. If you’re experienced, it’s about tuning feel, performance and reliability — the right kite choice for your style, a bar you trust, and a harness setup that lets you ride longer without getting worked.

UK sessions: what actually makes the difference

UK kitesurfing is rarely “set and forget” — it’s wind windows, gusts, colder water and making the most of the session when it’s on. The right setup is usually less about maximum performance and more about the right sizing and control: a kite that’s predictable in gusts, a comfortable harness that doesn’t ruin your back, and dependable safety kit so you can ride with confidence.

Need cold-water essentials? Start with a proper wetsuit setup (and don’t underestimate gloves/boots on long winter sessions): Mens Wetsuits.

Kitesurf FAQs

What kitesurf kite size should I buy for UK conditions?

It depends on your weight and your local wind range, but most riders are best covered with two sizes to hit more days (a “main” size plus a lighter-wind or stronger-wind option). Message us your weight, ability and typical spot, and we’ll recommend a sensible quiver.

What’s the best setup for a beginner?

Keep it predictable: a stable freeride kite, a forgiving twintip, a comfortable harness, plus a helmet/impact vest if you want extra confidence while learning. If you’re just starting out, lessons are the quickest (and safest) way to progress.

Do kite bars work across brands?

Sometimes, but it’s not always plug-and-play. Line lengths, safety systems and connection types can differ. If you’re mixing brands, ask us first and we’ll sanity-check compatibility.

Waist harness or seat harness?

Waist harnesses offer freedom and are the most common choice once you’re up and riding. Seat harnesses can feel more locked-in and are sometimes preferred by beginners or riders wanting extra lower-back support. Fit matters more than anything — tell us your build and riding style and we’ll guide you.

What are the “small extras” people forget?

Leash (if appropriate for your setup), pump compatibility, spare parts (valves/patches), and protective kit. These are the bits that often save a session when something minor goes wrong.
