Paddleboarding Accessories at The SUP Company

The right accessories make paddleboarding easier, safer, and far more enjoyable — whether you’re heading out for a calm river cruise, exploring the coast, or doing longer touring paddles. This collection covers the essentials (and the smart upgrades) including leashes, pumps, fins, bags, safety gear and spares so you can get on the water with confidence.

Shop accessories by what you need

Leashes – stay connected to your board (crucial for sea and moving water).
Pumps – manual and electric options for quicker, easier inflation.
Fins – improve tracking, stability and weed resistance depending on where you paddle.
Dry Bags – keep kit dry on the board (and keep your car dry on the way home).
Waterproof Phone Cases – peace of mind for photos, maps and emergencies.
Buoyancy Aids – comfort + safety for UK waters, especially in cooler months.
Board Bags – protect your SUP during travel and storage.
Repair Kits & Spares – the small parts that stop you missing sessions.

The “don’t skip these” essentials

Leash: If you’re paddling on the sea, tidal water or anywhere with wind/current, a leash is one of the most important safety items you can buy.

Pump: A good pump makes inflation faster and less tiring. If you paddle regularly, an electric pump is a genuine quality-of-life upgrade.

Dry bag + phone protection: Ideal for keys, snacks, layers and keeping your phone safe (and usable) on the water.

Upgrades that make a noticeable difference

Fins: A different fin can transform tracking on flatwater, help in shallow rivers, or reduce snagging in weedy spots.

Comfort + safety: A buoyancy aid that fits well makes you more likely to wear it — and that’s the whole point.

Spares: Keep a couple of key spares handy (valve tools, fin screws, repair patches) and you’ll save sessions when something small goes wrong.

Paddleboarding Accessories FAQs

What accessories do I need for my first paddleboard?

At minimum: a leash, a pump (if inflatable), and a safe way to carry valuables (dry bag/phone case). For UK conditions, a well-fitting buoyancy aid is strongly recommended too.

Are electric pumps worth it?

If you paddle regularly, yes. They save time and effort, especially if you inflate more than one board or you’re often paddling after work and want a quicker setup.

Do fins make much difference?

They really can. A touring-style fin improves tracking on flatwater, while smaller or shallower fins can be better for rivers and shallow launches. If you tell us where you paddle, we’ll recommend the best option.

What leash should I use?

For flatwater and general paddling, a coiled leash is popular. For surf zones, use an appropriate surf leash. If you’re unsure, tell us your board and where you paddle and we’ll steer you correctly.

Can you help me choose the right accessories for my board?

Yes. Message us with your board model (or a link), your height/weight, and where you paddle most, and we’ll suggest the sensible essentials and the best value upgrades.
