Simple SUP setup videos that solve common problems
These four videos are the backbone of our SUP how-to help — the ones we send customers again and again because they solve the most common setup problems in minutes.
Work through them in order and you will go from unboxed to properly set up with fewer mistakes, less frustration and a much better first session on the water.
Where should I start?
Start with the basics that affect safety and board performance most: leash, fin, paddle setup and valve checks. These are the common areas that make the biggest difference to how your board feels on the water.
Safety first
Fit your leash properly
Your board is your biggest flotation. A correctly fitted leash helps keep your board with you if you fall in.
Board control
Fit the fin correctly
If your board will not track straight or feels unstable, check the fin and inflation pressure before assuming anything is wrong with the board.
Troubleshooting
Check the valve before raising a fault
Many inflatable SUP valve leaks are quick fixes. A simple valve check can often solve air loss without needing a warranty claim.

Quick start checklist: unbox to first session
Use this checklist before your first paddle. It covers the simple setup steps that make the biggest difference to safety, control and enjoyment.
Inflate to the PSI printed on your board
Do not guess. Inflate to the recommended pressure printed on your board. If pumping is hard work, upgrading your pump can make setup much easier. Shop SUP pumps.
Fit the fin properly
The fin does most of the steering. If it is missing, loose or badly fitted, the board will feel slow, unstable or hard to keep straight. Shop SUP fins.
Set your paddle length
A paddle that is too long or too short can make paddling feel awkward and tiring. Use our SUP Paddle Buying Guide for help choosing and setting the right paddle.
Wear your leash correctly
A leash keeps you connected to your board. Choose the right leash for where you paddle and make sure it is fitted correctly. Shop SUP leashes.
Dress for the water, not just the air
UK conditions change quickly. Think about water temperature, wind, exposure and what happens if you fall in. Read our What to Wear Paddleboarding and Wetsuit Buying Guide.

SUP how-to FAQs
Which order should I watch the videos in?
We recommend starting with the leash for safety, then the fin for tracking, then the paddle for comfort and efficiency. Watch the valve video if you are troubleshooting air loss from an inflatable board.
Do I really need a leash?
In most UK paddling, yes. Wind and current can move a board away faster than many paddlers expect, and the board is your biggest flotation. If you are unsure what leash type is right for where you paddle, contact us and we will point you in the right direction.
My board will not go straight — what is the most common cause?
Start with the fin and inflation pressure. Fit the fin properly and inflate to the PSI printed on your board. Paddle length, stance and technique can also make a big difference.
Is an inflatable SUP valve leak a warranty issue?
Sometimes, but many apparent valve leaks are quick fixes. Watch the valve video first. If the board is still losing air, use soapy water to identify the leak area and submit clear photos and a short video through our warranty and aftersales support page.
Can I get help choosing the right fin, paddle or accessories?
Yes. Tell us your height, weight, where you paddle, what board you are using and what you want to improve. We can recommend a sensible setup and any upgrades that genuinely make your sessions easier and more enjoyable.
