Description
Description
The Duotone Midish is the mid-length foilboard designed around Duotone Foil Assist for efficient take-offs and smooth, controlled flights.
At a glance:
- Dedicated Foil Assist board for prone, downwind and wing foiling
- Mid-length, low-rocker shape for easy take-offs and glide
- Narrow outline for agile, surfy turns with good stability through transitions
- Forward foil box position to balance the extra push of the motor and keep the ride light and responsive
- V-bottom concave to soften touchdowns and make take-off more efficient
- Optimised volume distribution with lowered front-foot deck for better balance and pressure control
- Fishtail design for extra push at take-off and clean cable routing to the harness
- Sizes from compact 38L to 78L cover prone surf, downwind, wing and freeride foiling
The Duotone Midfish is the solid “do-it-all” foilboard developed specifically around the Duotone Foil Assist system. It blends the paddle speed and forgiveness of a mid-length with a narrow, surfy outline and a clever fishtail that keeps drag low once you are flying.
A slightly forward foil box helps you manage the motor’s extra push without feeling like you’re standing on a barge; once on foil, the board feels surprisingly compact and reactive underfoot. The V-bottom concave softens touchdowns and lets you roll from rail to rail with less effort, which is exactly what you want when you’re learning to link assisted bumps, downwinders or surf lines.
Optimised volume distribution and a slightly lowered front-foot deck give you a very even pressure between front and back foot, so you don’t feel like you’re constantly fighting nose-dives or wheelies. The fishtail not only adds stability and push at take-off, it also creates a practical channel for the Foil Assist cable to run cleanly towards your eHarness, helping keep the whole system tidy and safe.

Shape & design features
- Mid-length outline with low rocker for fast paddling and early lift
- Narrow outline for agile, surfy turns that still feel composed in a straight line
- Forward foil box position for balanced assisted take-offs and light, reactive handling
- V-bottom concave for softer, more forgiving touchdowns
- Lowered front-foot deck to lock in stance and equalise front/back foot pressure
- Fishtail for stability, extra push when lifting off and clean cable access to the harness
Construction & fittings
- Sturdy composite construction with reinforced foil box and standing area (Duotone spec)
- US foil tracks – compatible with Duotone Foil Assist Mast AL, Cruise and D/LAB, plus most third-party masts using standard plates
- Front footstrap inserts (straight / V) on 5'8 and 5'11 sizes
- Foil Assist integration & compatibility
- Midfish is the reference board Duotone recommend pairing with the Foil Assist Mast AL and D/LAB for freeride, prone surf, downwind and wing sessions.
With standard US tracks, you can:
- Mount Foil Assist Mast AL or D/LAB directly for assisted prone, downwind and wing
- Use Cruise Mast AL for easier, slightly lower and more forgiving Cruise setups
- Run adapter fuselages to plug in your preferred foil brand – Duotone, F-One, Armstrong, Gong, Axis, Lift, North, Code, Sabfoil, AFS and KT – while still taking advantage of the Assist system’s power and runtime.
For maximum battery efficiency, Duotone recommend:
- A front wing of 900cm² or larger, and
- A board volume of 35L or more – a box that every Midfish size comfortably ticks.
Recommended pairings
All-round freeride / wing / downwind:
Midfish 5'5 or 5'8 + Foil Assist Mast AL + Glide / Free series front wings
Prone surf & advanced downwind:
Midfish 5'2 or 5'5 + Foil Assist D/LAB Mast + Glide 2.0 SLS / D/LAB wings
Cruise / easier setup:
Midfish 5'8 or 5'11 + Foil Assist Cruise Mast AL + prop guard for friendly assisted sessions
Who it’s for
- The Midfish is for riders who want a purpose-built Foil Assist board that still works brilliantly without power:
- Prone foilers who want more glide into waves and a forgiving touchdown without giving up a lively feel
- Downwind and bump chasers who like the idea of Assist getting them up, then want a fast, efficient board once flying
- Wing foilers who prefer compact lengths but still want enough volume to slog home if the wind drops
- Progressive improvers stepping down from bigger, boxier shapes into something more responsive that still has sensible volume
- It’s also a very strong choice for riders planning to build a multi-brand foil quiver: its US tracks and the Assist adapter fuselage range make it a true hub for Duotone, Axis, Lift, F-One, North, Code, Gong, Sabfoil, AFS and KT foils.
Why it stands out
- Specifically designed around electric assist, not just a surfboard with a box dropped in
- Shape and volume distribution tuned to work with the extra thrust from the motor while still feeling natural when free-foiling
- Clever fishtail and cable routing detail that makes living with the Foil Assist system day-to-day simpler and safer
- Sizes that span everything from compact prone weapons to wing-friendly mid-volume decks
