Is the 12'0" Voyager too big for a beginner?
Not at all. While it is longer than a standard beginner board, its 33" width makes it incredibly stable. If your goal is to go on longer paddles rather than just playing in the waves, starting on a Voyager is a very smart move as it gives you room to progress.
What is the difference between this and the 12'6" Voyager?
The 12'0" is wider (33") than the 12'6" (32"). This makes the 12'0" more stable and better suited for carrying extra gear or for paddlers who prioritise confidence over outright speed. The 12'6" is slightly faster but requires a more consistent technique to keep stable in choppy water.
Can I take a dog or a child on this board?
