Description

The Foil Drive Three Blade Propeller Upgrade is for riders who want more low-end drive from their Foil Drive setup. If you are finding water starts hard work, riding a smaller board, using a smaller or higher-aspect foil, or simply want a stronger push at take-off, this upgrade gives the system a more assertive feel under load.

This is not a “faster is always better” upgrade. The standard two-blade setup still makes a lot of sense for riders who value a cleaner glide, lower drag and maximum efficiency. The three-blade route is for riders who want more torque, more bite and more confidence getting up and away.

Where This Upgrade Sits in the Foil Drive Range

Think of the three-blade propeller as the torque-focused option within the Foil Drive propeller range. It is especially useful when your setup is working harder than normal, whether that is because of rider weight, board volume, foil choice or the type of start you are trying to achieve.

If your current two-blade setup already gives you easy take-offs and you mainly want the lightest, cleanest glide, you may not need to change. If you are regularly asking more from the motor at low speed, this is the upgrade that makes sense.

Why Choose the Foil Drive Three Blade Propeller Upgrade?

  • More low-end thrust – helps the system feel stronger when you are trying to get moving and release onto foil.
  • Better torque at lower RPM – useful for heavier riders, smaller boards or smaller foils that need more help initially.
  • Improved feel under load – designed to reduce cavitation and give a smoother, quieter drive when the propeller is working hard.
  • More useful when the prop breaches the surface – a practical benefit for shallow motor positions and surface-driving moments.
  • A clear upgrade path – ideal if you already own a Foil Drive two-blade setup and want a stronger take-off-focused option.

Important Trade-Offs

A three-blade propeller creates more thrust, but it also asks more from the system. It can draw more battery power, may feel less clean when gliding off power, and is not recommended for prolonged full-throttle eFoiling use. If your priority is efficiency and the most natural glide, the two-blade setup may still be the better choice.

Please note: this is an upgrade kit, not a complete fresh three-blade propeller set. The additional two propeller blades are normally taken from your existing Foil Drive two-blade hub. If your existing propellers are damaged, it is worth replacing them as a balanced set to help avoid vibration and unnecessary wear.

Helpful Reading & Buying Advice

FAQs

Is the Foil Drive Three Blade Propeller Upgrade better than the two-blade setup?

It depends what you need. The three-blade setup gives more low-end thrust and torque, which can make take-offs easier. The two-blade setup generally remains the cleaner, more efficient choice if you want less drag and a more natural glide.

Who should choose the three-blade propeller upgrade?

It is best suited to riders who need more help getting onto foil. That could be because you are heavier, using a lower-volume board, riding a smaller foil, using a higher-aspect foil, or regularly starting in conditions where the motor is under more load.

Will this give me more top speed?

No, that is not really the point of this upgrade. The three-blade setup is about low-end thrust and torque rather than outright top speed. If speed and efficiency are your priorities, the standard two-blade system may be a better fit.

Does the three-blade propeller use more battery?

Yes, it can do. Short bursts for take-off may only make a small difference, but longer or harder use will draw more power. Foil Drive also advises against prolonged full-throttle eFoiling use with this setup.

Is this compatible with my Foil Drive system?

This upgrade is suitable for Foil Drive Assist PLUS, Assist MAX and Assist Slim systems. It is not recommended for the Original Assist system. If you are unsure which version you own, please contact us before ordering and we will help check compatibility.

Is this a complete three-blade propeller set?

No. This is an upgrade kit and includes one aluminium propeller blade, the three-blade hub and fitting hardware. The other two blades are normally taken from your existing two-blade setup. If your current blades are damaged, we recommend replacing them as a balanced set.

Specifications

  • Features

Three-blade propeller format: Adding the third blade gives the motor more grip in the water. In real terms, that means a stronger, more deliberate push when you pull the trigger, particularly at lower speeds.

Torque-focused performance: This upgrade is not about chasing maximum top speed. It is about making the first part of the ride easier, especially when your setup needs more power to break free and climb onto foil.

Reduced cavitation under load: Cavitation can happen when the propeller is working hard and loses clean grip in the water. The three-blade setup is designed to hold better drive, giving a smoother and more controlled feel.

Designed for demanding setups: If you are using a lower-volume board, smaller foil, higher-aspect foil or you are a heavier rider, the extra low-end thrust can make the difference between struggling to get going and getting onto foil with more confidence.
