The Red Paddle Co 11’3” Sport is the perfect step up for the paddler who has outgrown their all-rounder and wants more speed and efficiency without sacrificing stability.

If you find yourself paddling further and wanting to cover distance with less effort, the 11’3” Sport is designed specifically for you. It bridges the gap between a versatile entry-level board and a dedicated long-distance explorer. The slightly narrower nose and elongated shape allow the board to slice through the water, providing a noticeable increase in glide. It’s a board that rewards every stroke, making it a firm favourite for those who enjoy coastal cruising or exploring winding river networks.

Where this sits in the Red Paddle Co range

The Sport range is positioned between the Ride series and the Voyager series. While the Ride 10’6” is about maximum stability for beginners, the 11’3” Sport is for the "intermediate" paddler. It is faster than a Ride but more manageable and easier to turn than the longer Voyager. For many paddlers, the 11’3” is the 'Goldilocks' size—offering a significant performance boost while still feeling familiar and safe from the moment you step on it.

Is the 11’3” Sport stable enough for a beginner?

If you have good natural balance or have spent a little time on a board before, yes. However, if you are a complete novice and prioritize absolute stability over speed, the Ride 10'8" may be more reassuring for your first few sessions.

What is the benefit of the 4.7" thickness?

The thinner profile (compared to 6" boards) lowers your centre of gravity, making the board feel less "corky" and more connected to the water. Combined with the RSS battens, you get all the stiffness of a thicker board with much better handling.

Can I carry a child or dog on this board?

While the Sport can handle the weight, its narrower nose makes it less suited for extra passengers than the Ride range. If you plan on regular "family" paddling, we suggest looking at our Guide to Paddling with Pets.

Features

RSS Stiffening System This board features pockets along the rails for two glass-fibre battens. Once inserted, these counteract the natural flex of an inflatable board under the rider's weight, resulting in a much stiffer feel that mimics a hard board. You’ll notice this most in "water chop," where the board maintains its shape rather than bouncing.
Speed Tail The Sport features a hard-release edge on the tail. This allows water to cleanly break away from the back of the board, reducing drag and increasing your top speed. It’s a small detail that makes a big difference over a two-hour paddle.
US Box Fin System Unlike cheaper clip-in fins, the US Box allows you to swap and change your fin based on the conditions. The included touring fin is designed to shed weed and provide excellent lateral stability, keeping you on track even in a crosswind.
