The Starboard 5'8" x 28" Air Foil Deluxe SC is a compact inflatable foil board for riders who want the convenience of a packable setup without giving away too much direct foil feel on the water. At 122 litres, it hits a really useful sweet spot: enough volume for confident starts and progression, but short and compact enough to feel lively once you’re up and flying.

This is the board to choose if you like the idea of an inflatable for travel, storage and day-to-day practicality, but you do not want the usual disconnected, bouncy feeling that many inflatable foil boards can suffer from. Starboard’s Air Foil design was created to feel far more connected underfoot, making it a smart option for progressing wing foilers who still want a board that is easy to live with off the water too.

Who is this board best suited to?

This board is best suited to progressing wing foilers who want a compact board that still offers enough float and stability for confident starts. It is a particularly good option for riders who value portability and easy storage, but still want a board that feels connected and responsive underfoot.

Is this a good option for beginners?

For the right rider, yes — but we would describe it more as a progression-friendly compact board than a full beginner barge. If you are completely new, heavier, or want maximum stability above all else, a larger foil board may get you going faster. If you already have some experience or want something you will not outgrow too quickly, this size makes a lot of sense.

Why does the top plate design matter?

It is what makes this board feel different from many inflatable foil boards. With far less material between your feet and the foil, the response feels more direct, pumping is more efficient, and the board gives you cleaner feedback through turns and take-offs.

Is 122 litres enough volume for me?

That depends on your weight, experience and how you ride. What comes with the board?

You get the board, Tiki pump, Re-Cover wheely bag, coil leash and three footstraps. The foil is not included, so you will need to pair it with a suitable foil setup separately.

Why choose an inflatable foil board over a hard board?

The big advantages are storage, transport and day-to-day convenience. If you have limited space at home, drive a smaller car, or travel regularly, an inflatable foil board is far easier to manage.     This is the big talking point on this board. Rather than feeling soft and vague under your feet, the Air Foil uses a solid standing plate mounted directly to the foil area.
