Infinity Paddleboards Explained: Which Model Is Right for You?

Infinity Paddleboards Explained: Which Model Is Right for You?

Tony Jones |

Infinity is a California-based paddleboard brand shaped by surf culture and race performance. Led by master shaper Dave Boehne, Infinity boards are built around a simple idea: efficient hull design makes paddling feel easier, faster and more controllable — especially when conditions get messy.

Infinity have a strong reputation in the performance end of SUP: race boards that accelerate cleanly, hold glide between strokes, and remain predictable when the water isn’t perfectly flat. If you’re a high-intent buyer who cares about speed, efficiency and shape refinement, Infinity is a brand worth understanding properly.

What makes Infinity different?

Infinity’s “innovation” isn’t gimmicks — it’s shape development. Their boards are built to:

  • Carry speed between strokes (less effort for the same pace)
  • Track cleanly without feeling locked-in
  • Handle real-world water with stability through the hull rather than just width

In simple terms: Infinity boards often feel fast without feeling twitchy — which is exactly what many UK paddlers need.

Infinity range overview (and how to choose)

Infinity Blackfish – Pure speed & race efficiency

The Blackfish is Infinity’s flagship race board. It’s designed for maximum efficiency and glide, with a hull that rewards good technique and clean power.

Choose Blackfish if:

  • You race, train seriously, or want a board that feels genuinely fast
  • You care about glide and efficiency over casual comfort
  • You want a board that rewards progression (better technique = more speed)

Don’t choose Blackfish if:

  • You paddle occasionally and want an easy, relaxed experience
  • You want maximum stability above everything

Infinity Eveready – UK-friendly race performance (the “smart” choice for many)

The Eveready sits in the sweet spot for many paddlers: still fast and efficient, but more forgiving and better suited to typical UK conditions than an ultra-technical race shape.

Choose Eveready if:

  • You want race-level speed but with better all-round usability
  • You paddle mixed water (Solent chop, tidal flow, boat wake)
  • You want a board that’s fast but doesn’t punish imperfect balance

Don’t choose Eveready if:

  • You’re not interested in speed or longer distances
  • You mainly paddle with kids/dogs and want a wide “family deck”

Infinity Touring / Cruiser options (where available)

Infinity touring-oriented shapes are for paddlers who want performance DNA without full race focus — more glide than an all-round board, but with calmer handling and more practical stability.

Choose a touring Infinity if: you want distance capability without going “full race”.

Construction: what you’re paying for

Infinity boards are typically focused on performance-grade builds where weight, stiffness and shape accuracy matter. Lighter, stiffer boards:

  • accelerate more easily
  • feel cleaner through chop
  • respond better to steering and foot pressure

If you’re buying Infinity, you’re usually buying for that “proper board” feel — not just the logo.

Recommended Infinity choices (quick decision rules)

  • I want the fastest option: Blackfish
  • I want speed but more UK practicality: Eveready
  • I want glide for distance without racing intensity: Touring-oriented Infinity

Demo Infinity at our SUP Test Centre (highly recommended)

Infinity boards are the perfect example of why demoing matters. Small differences in width, hull feel and stability can completely change how enjoyable a “fast” board is for you.

FAQs

Blackfish or Eveready — what’s the simplest answer?

If you want the most performance and you’re comfortable on a race board, go Blackfish. If you want speed with more forgiveness and UK usability, Eveready is the smarter choice for most paddlers.

Are Infinity boards only for racers?

No — but they are built with a performance mindset. If you care about glide, efficiency and speed (even for fitness paddling), Infinity makes a lot of sense. If you want a relaxed family cruiser, other brands may suit you better.

What width should I choose?

Width is the biggest factor in stability and enjoyment. If you’re unsure, we strongly recommend demoing at Woodmill — we can put you on two widths back-to-back so you feel the difference immediately.

Can you help me choose the right Infinity board?

Yes. Tell us your height, weight, where you paddle, and what you want to improve (speed, fitness, racing, distance). We’ll recommend a board that matches your real use.
