Get an early start on your New Year resolution and book your place on one of the many SUP events going on in the UK in 2024. As paddle boarding is evolving, and quickly transitioning from a Summer pastime to a serious sport – more and more events and challenges are being run across the UK where people can put their skills to the test and compete against each-other. These can vary from sprints, endurance and multi-lap races to quirky challenges and “triathlon” style events.
To get a taste of what is happening and how you can get involved – we’ve put together a short list of SUP Events scheduled for 2024 across the UK!
SUP/BIKE/RUN

Location: Dorset
When?: 20th July 2024
Get ready for the ultimate triathlon event combining SUP (stand up paddle boarding), mountain biking, and trail running. A real adventure of a weekend! Looking for something more out of Paddle Boarding. Looking for your next adventure and challenge. This is the event for you! Based at Cleavel Point located on the stunning Isle of Purbeck. Start the adventure with a 3k Paddleboard on the outskirts of Poole Harbour, followed by a 16K mountain bike ride through pine forest within the Rempstone Estate. Then finishing off with a 5K trail run.
This two day event includes access to free SUP lessons on the saturday including SUP beginner, Sup Masterclass and SUP yoga sessions. Where you can then camp for the night, at Burnbake campsite (pitching fees apply) before Sunday being the main event! Choosing from short or Long distances and different start times. It’s a day to remember where you push your endurance and mind set to the limit, all whilst taking in the beauty of Purbeck Hills all with an ice cold beer waiting for you at the finish line!
Trent 100

Location: Staffordshire
When?: 18th- 21st July 2024
Back for their 7th event, two days of paddling, music and food is something that you’ll never forget in 2024! As a team of like-minded adventurers, paddling across three counties in England. Just yourselves and your board of your choice! Two days and 100 kilometers of water, all must band together to keep the momentum going to make it to the finish line for a time your team should be proud of! Trent 100 is the UK’s longest team endurance event. Starting at Great Hayward in Staffordshire early on the Friday morning, rest overnight near Anchor caves and finish in Nottingham on Saturday before the sun sets for a celebration back at the campsite. Paddlers can then party the night away!
Head of the Dart

Location: Dartmouth
When?: April 2024
Back for their 7th event, two days of paddling, music and food is something that you’ll never forget in 2024! The Head of the Dart SUP Challenge is the UK’s largest SUP event, with over 250 paddlers participating annually in April. The 14km course runs along the River Dart, showcasing the beautiful Devon countryside between the historic towns of Dartmouth and Totnes, and switches directions every year. Known as the season opener, paddlers from all over the country and even beyond travel to take part.

The Paddle Skedaddle
Location: Norfolk
When?: 11th of May 2024
The Paddle Skedaddle is a 26.5km (16.5 miles) ‘One-Way Point to Point’ race for Stand Up Paddle, Prone, Kayak, SurfSki, and OC’s that travels through the breathtaking areas of the Norfolk Broads. This race has gained significant popularity and is now considered a must-attend event on the SUP/paddle circuit. The 2024 edition is expected to be another unforgettable display of paddling prowess.
The Great Glen Challenge

Location: Fort Augustus
When?: 20th – 21st of September
The Great Glen is a must-do event for paddlers around the world. It encompasses the beauty of Scotland as paddlers navigate the 92km distance, with the choice to complete it in one or two days. This is a true test of skill as paddlers face the unpredictable Scottish Weather, with varying conditions from calm waters to challenging downwinders. Participants are required to have their own shore support for this point to point race. Race management chooses the course direction the night before based on weather forecasts, with the gathering point at Fort Augustus serving as a prime location for a celebration. A paddlers’ pack will be sent out six weeks prior, with a remote briefing one month before the event. Attendance is required at on-site registration for updates on conditions and any last-minute changes. For 2024, kit checks will be conducted before the start and spot checks may occur during and after the race to ensure mandatory equipment is present.
