SIC RST Review

Embarking on an invigorating journey with a stand-up paddleboard (SUP) takes the exploration of water bodies to unparalleled heights. As a seasoned paddler weighing 93kg, I’ve typically enjoyed models like the SIC Atlantis 14ft  for their stability and just how rewarding they are to paddle. However, my recent adventure with the brand-new RST 14,  at 24.5″ wide, has been a bit of revelation.

Despite some peoples perceptions of wider boards being sluggish, the SIC RST 14 defies expectations, emerging as one of the best and most capable boards around.

The real appeal of the RST 14” lies in its unexpected agility and maneuverability, qualities seldom found in wider boards. Coupled with an innovative design there is little compromise in speed, to the point that increased stability can make you faster. Even in flat conditions the RST 14” effortlessly glides across the water without any hint of drag..

We’ve put the SIC Maui RST 14 through various conditions – from flat waters and challenging up winds to crosswind waves and exhilarating downwinders. In each, the RST 14 has displayed exceptional performance, maintaining its course effortlessly and proving its versatility as an all-water race board. It really shines in crosswinds and waves, along with its outstanding downwind capabilities; it really does set it apart from the crowd and amongst some of the most revered all water boards available.

Notably, the SIC Maui RST 14’s paddleboard design enables smooth paddling in flatter conditions, ensuring an engaging fast ride without the need for excessive effort. Its this adaptability and efficiency that really make it shine.

SIC Maui dropped the popular SIC Atlantis from the range to accommodate the new RST. Despite its wider width, the SIC RST 14 has matched, if not surpassed, the performance of even the narrower Atlantis, challenging preconceptions about narrow being faster and highlighting just how good the RST is.

The RST features a new Venturi system, to expel water from the standing area. This feature is extremely effective and almost essential in a dugout style board. Underscoring the ongoing evolution and refinement of SUP designs from SIC.

Stability is crucial in paddleboarding, and the RST 14 excels in this aspect, offering a balance between primary and secondary stability suitable for both beginners and experienced paddlers. The board’s design fosters confidence and agility, enabling paddlers to push their limits with confidence.

The SIC RST 14ft race board isn’t just a board; it’s a game-changer that redefines possibilities in the SIC range of paddleboards, offering an unmatched blend of speed, stability, and agility.
