Description
Description
The SIC Maui XRS Super Fly is a specialist flatwater race board for paddlers who want maximum glide, clean tracking and outright speed in calm to lightly textured water. This is not a do-it-all shape and that is exactly the point. The XRS is built for paddlers who want a board that feels efficient from the first stroke, rewards good technique and carries speed beautifully over distance.
Developed from SIC’s flatwater-focused X Series, the XRS takes that concept further with a dugout cockpit, low rocker line and highly efficient waterline. If your paddling is mainly on rivers, lakes, harbours, canals or sheltered estuaries and you want a board that feels purpose-built for fitness paddling, training or racing, the XRS makes a lot of sense.
Where the XRS Sits in the SIC Race Range
The XRS is the pure flatwater specialist in the SIC lineup. If your priority is speed and efficiency in cleaner water, this is the board to choose.
If you want something more forgiving for mixed conditions, open water and rougher race days, take a look at the SIC Maui RS 14 ft DF. If you want a higher-end all-water race shape with even more capability when conditions get messy, the SIC Maui RST 14 ft SF sits above it.
Put simply, choose the XRS if your local water is mostly flat and you want the fastest, most focused board of the three.
Why Choose the SIC XRS Super Fly
- Pure flatwater speed: designed to reduce drag, hold glide and keep momentum between strokes.
- Tracks exceptionally well: the efficient hull and parallel outline help reduce yaw, so you waste less energy switching paddle sides.
- Dugout confidence: the cockpit design lowers your stance and adds control without dulling the board’s performance.
- Race-ready feel: fast enough for competition, but still a brilliant option for fitness paddling and training miles.
- Lightweight carbon construction: Super Fly build keeps the board feeling lively, responsive and quick off the catch.
- Clear size choice: the 20" is the sharper, more demanding option, while the 22" gives a touch more stability for a wider range of paddlers.

Who is the SIC XRS Super Fly best suited to?
This board is best for paddlers focused on flatwater training, fitness paddling and racing. If most of your paddling is on calmer water and you want speed over versatility, the XRS is a very strong choice.
What is the difference between the 14'0" x 20" and the 14'0" x 22"?
The 20" is the more specialist option. It is narrower, sharper and better suited to lighter, more experienced paddlers with strong balance and race ambitions. The 22" keeps the same fast flatwater DNA but adds a little more comfort and stability, making it the better fit for more paddlers.
Is the XRS a good choice for open water or choppy race days?
Not really. The XRS is happiest in flatwater and sheltered conditions. If you regularly paddle in rougher water, side chop or open-water race conditions, the SIC RS or SIC RST will usually make more sense.
Does the board come with a fin?
Yes. The XRS comes with an 8.3" weedless race fin, so you have what you need to get the board on the water.
Can I get advice on the right race paddle to pair with it?
Absolutely. A board like this really benefits from the right paddle. If you want help matching blade size, shaft feel and length to your height, weight and paddling goals, just get in touch and we will steer you in the right direction.
Can I arrange a demo or talk through whether this is the right board for me?
Yes. If you want to sense-check whether the XRS is the right fit, contact us and we can talk through your local water, your experience and the sort of racing or training you are doing. Where appropriate, we can also guide you towards demo and test options through The SUP Company.
