Description
Starboard Touring Deluxe Single Chamber Inflatable Paddleboard
The Starboard Touring Deluxe Single Chamber is built for paddlers who want to cover more distance with less effort. It sits in that important space between an easy all-round inflatable SUP and a faster, more committed race board: straighter tracking, better glide, more confidence carrying kit, but still practical to store, transport and use regularly.
This is a strong choice if you have outgrown a short all-round board and now want to explore rivers, harbours, canals, lakes and sheltered coastal routes with more efficiency. The Touring shape helps the board hold its line, so you spend less time correcting and more time moving smoothly forwards.
Where it sits in the Starboard range
Compared with a Starboard iGO-style all-round board, the Touring Deluxe Single Chamber is longer, more directionally efficient and better suited to mileage. It is not the board we would usually choose for casual beach play, small surf or very short family sessions; it is for paddlers who want to paddle further, carry gear and feel a cleaner glide.
Compared with the Starboard Touring Deluxe Lite, the Deluxe Single Chamber is the more substantial, performance-minded inflatable construction. Choose Deluxe Lite if your main priority is minimum weight and compact packing. Choose Deluxe Single Chamber if you want a more robust, stiffer-feeling touring board for regular use and loaded paddling.
If you are chasing pure speed, race training or event performance, also compare this with the composite paddleboard range or Starboard’s race-focused boards. If you want a premium inflatable touring SUP that is practical to live with, this is a very sensible place to be.
Which size should you choose?
The right size depends on your weight, experience, balance, where you paddle and whether you plan to carry kit. As a general guide, narrower boards feel faster and more efficient but demand better balance; wider boards feel more forgiving and are better for heavier paddlers, choppier water or touring with extra load.
| Size | Best suited to | Length | Width | Volume |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 12'6" x 30" | Accessible touring, lighter-to-midweight paddlers, first step up from an all-round board | 12'6" / 381cm | 30" / 76.2cm | 355L |
| 14'0" x 28" | Faster fitness touring, experienced paddlers, race/touring crossover feel | 14'0" / 426.7cm | 28" / 71.1cm | 345L |
| 14'0" x 30" | The most versatile 14ft touring option for glide, stability and UK conditions | 14'0" / 426.7cm | 30" / 76.2cm | 389L |
| 14'0" x 32" | Larger paddlers, extra stability, carrying more kit, confidence in mixed conditions | 14'0" / 426.7cm | 32" / 81.3cm | 409L |
If you are unsure, the 14'0" x 30" is often the best all-round touring choice for many UK paddlers because it gives a strong blend of glide, carrying capacity and stability. The 14'0" x 28" is the faster, more technical option. The 14'0" x 32" is the safer choice if you value confidence, load carrying or extra standing room over outright speed.
Who is it best for?
This board suits paddlers who already know they enjoy SUP and now want to go further. It is ideal for fitness paddling, river touring, harbour routes, longer lake sessions, estuary exploring and day trips with a dry bag. It also makes sense for paddlers who have started on a 10'6" or 10'8" all-round board and now want noticeably better glide and straighter tracking.
It may not be the best choice if you mainly want a simple family board for short beach sessions, a surf SUP, or the smallest possible travel package. For those uses, start with our inflatable paddleboard collection or ask us to help narrow the options.
Package includes
- Starboard Touring Deluxe Single Chamber inflatable paddleboard
- Starboard wheeled board bag
- Starboard pump
- Starboard leash
- Starboard centre fin
Please note: this listing does not include a paddle. If you are upgrading from a basic package paddle, this board is well worth pairing with a lighter, more efficient touring paddle. Browse our SUP paddles or contact us for advice on blade size, shaft feel and adjustability.
Useful accessories
- SUP paddles – a lighter paddle makes a big difference over distance.
- Waterproof bags – useful for spare layers, phone, snacks and safety kit.
- SUP leashes – match leash type to where you paddle.
- SUP pumps – consider an electric pump if you paddle regularly.
Try before you buy
Touring boards are very sensitive to size choice. A 28", 30" and 32" board can feel completely different on the water, even when the overall design looks similar. If you are choosing between sizes, we strongly recommend booking the SUP Test Centre at Woodmill, Southampton, where you can compare boards and paddles properly before buying.

FAQs
Is the Starboard Touring Deluxe Single Chamber a good first paddleboard?
It can be, but only for the right paddler. If you are confident, reasonably active and want a board for distance rather than short casual paddles, the 12'6" x 30" or 14'0" x 30" can work well. If you are nervous, very new or mainly paddling with family, a wider all-round board may be easier to start with.
Which size is best for most paddlers?
For many UK paddlers, the 14'0" x 30" is the sweet spot because it gives better glide than a 12'6", more confidence than the 28" version and enough volume for longer paddles with kit. Lighter or more technical paddlers may prefer the 14'0" x 28", while larger paddlers or those carrying more gear should consider the 14'0" x 32".
Does this package include a paddle?
No. This package includes the board, wheeled bag, pump, leash and fin, but not a paddle. That is useful if you already own a paddle or want to choose a better touring paddle separately. A lighter carbon or carbon-composite paddle can make longer sessions feel much easier.
What is the difference between Deluxe Single Chamber and Deluxe Lite?
Deluxe Lite is the lighter, more compact travel-focused construction. Deluxe Single Chamber is the more substantial touring construction and is better suited to paddlers who prioritise stiffness, durability and a more planted feel on the water.
Is this better than a standard all-round SUP?
For distance paddling, yes. A touring board tracks straighter, carries speed better and is easier to paddle efficiently over longer routes. For short beach paddles, family use and maximum beginner stability, an all-round board may still be the better choice.
Can I carry kit on it?
Yes. The Touring shape and bungee layout make it suitable for carrying dry bags, spare layers, water, food and lightweight touring kit. The wider 14'0" x 30" and 14'0" x 32" sizes are the better choices if you regularly carry extra weight.
Can I try it before buying?
Yes. The SUP Company Test Centre at Woodmill, Southampton is the best way to compare Starboard touring sizes, especially if you are deciding between 28", 30" and 32" widths. Testing makes the difference much clearer than looking at a spec sheet.
Is it suitable for racing?
The 14'0" x 28" can work as a fast fitness or race/touring crossover board, especially for paddlers who want speed without going to a full race shape. If racing is your main aim, look at Starboard’s dedicated race boards or speak to us before choosing.
