The Black Project Hydro Synergy-X Paddle is the long-distance performance paddle in the Black Project race family. It is built for paddlers who want to hold speed more efficiently over distance, settle into a cleaner cadence and reduce the kind of wasted effort that adds up badly over longer races and training sessions.
This is not the race paddle for every paddler, but for the right person it is a superb bit of kit. If your paddling is moving towards middle-distance, long-distance, endurance work or serious flat-water training, the Synergy-X gives you a more efficient, more refined feel than a generic paddle or a heavier all-round option.
Where it sits in the Black Project range
The Synergy-X sits on the endurance side of the Black Project performance line. It is smoother and more sustainable over distance than the Hydro Sprint-X, and more specialised and race-led than the Hydro Tempo-X.

Who is the Hydro Synergy-X best for?
It is best for paddlers targeting middle-distance and long-distance speed. If your focus is efficiency, clean rhythm and sustaining pace over distance, this is the stronger fit than a sprint-specific paddle.
How does it compare with the Hydro Sprint-X?
The Synergy-X is the longer-distance option. It feels smoother and easier to maintain over bigger distances, whereas the Sprint-X is more urgent and acceleration-focused.
Is it too much paddle for a recreational user?
For many casual paddlers, yes. If you mainly cruise or do general fitness paddling, the Hydro Tempo-X or Lava will usually make more sense. The Synergy-X is at its best when the rider is genuinely chasing performance.
