Description

The Jobe Maddox Wakeboard is a performance boat wakeboard for riders who want stronger edge hold, a more aggressive take-off and a more responsive feel behind the boat. It is best suited to progressing intermediate and advanced wakeboarders who are starting to load harder against the line, edge with more confidence and look for bigger pop off the wake.

This is not the softest, most forgiving beginner board in the Jobe range. The Maddox sits further up the performance scale, giving confident riders more grip, more drive and a more explosive feel when they are ready to push harder.

Where the Maddox Sits in the Range

Choose the Maddox if you already have the basics dialled and want a wakeboard that rewards proper edging, stronger line tension and more committed take-offs. If you are completely new to wakeboarding or mainly want an easy family board for occasional use, a more forgiving entry-level board may be the better starting point.

For the right rider, the Maddox gives a much more connected and lively ride. The combination of deep grooved channels, removable fins and a 3-stage rocker makes it feel planted when loading up, then punchy when you release from the wake.

Which Size Should I Choose?

The Maddox comes in two sizes: 138cm and 142cm. The 138cm is the more compact option and suits riders in the 70–100kg range. The 142cm gives a little more length and surface area, making it the better choice for heavier riders, stronger boat wakes or anyone who wants a more stable platform underfoot.

Board Size Recommended Rider Weight Tip / Tail Width Centre Width Rocker
138cm 70–100kg / approx. 11st–15st 10lb 29.6cm 41.5cm 2.8cm / 3-stage
142cm 80kg+ / approx. 12st 8lb+ 30.6cm 42.5cm 2.8cm / 3-stage

Our advice: if you sit between the two sizes, choose the 138cm if you want a slightly more compact and responsive feel, or the 142cm if you want extra stability, more support through landings and a board that will feel more composed at speed.

Why Choose the Jobe Maddox Wakeboard?

  • Performance-focused boat wakeboard for intermediate to advanced riders.
  • Two board sizes covering riders from 70kg through to 100kg+.
  • Strong grip and edge control thanks to deep grooved channels and removable nylon fins.
  • Aggressive 3-stage rocker designed to help create a more explosive pop off the wake.
  • Responsive construction with a high-press core and Tri-Tech fibreglass lay-up.
  • Ideal for riders progressing their jumps who want a board that feels more direct underfoot.
  • Made using 100% solar power, reflecting Jobe’s move towards more responsible production.

Key Features Explained

3-Stage Rocker

The 3-stage rocker gives the Maddox a more aggressive wake-to-wake feel. Rather than feeling flat and mellow, the board has a more defined kick, helping confident riders generate stronger lift when they time the wake properly.

Deep Grooved Channels

The deep channels help the board track and hold an edge as you build line tension. In real use, that means more grip when loading up before a jump and a more controlled feeling as you carve into the wake.

Four Removable Nylon Fins

The removable fins add extra hold and stability. They are particularly useful for riders who want a locked-in feel, while still giving the option to tune the board’s grip depending on preference and conditions.

High-Press Core

The high-press core gives the board its responsive feel underfoot. It helps the Maddox feel lively and direct rather than soft or vague, which is exactly what progressing riders want when they start riding harder.

Tri-Tech Fibreglass

Jobe’s Tri-Tech fibreglass construction adds strength and response through the board. The result is a board that feels supportive when edging, popping and landing behind the boat.

6 Inch EVO Insert Setup

The Maddox uses Jobe’s 6 inch EVO insert setup, giving a secure and proven platform for compatible wakeboard bindings. Always check binding compatibility before fitting.

Non-Obstacle Wakeboard

The Maddox is designed for boat wakeboarding. It is not intended for use on kickers, sliders or park obstacles, so it should be kept for behind-the-boat riding rather than cable park features.

Helpful Reading & Buying Advice

FAQs

What sizes does the Jobe Maddox Wakeboard come in?

The Jobe Maddox Wakeboard is available in 138cm and 142cm. The 138cm suits riders around 70–100kg, while the 142cm is better for riders from around 80kg upwards or anyone wanting a little more stability and support.

Which Maddox size should I choose?

Choose the 138cm if you want a slightly more compact, responsive board and you sit within the 70–100kg rider weight range. Choose the 142cm if you are 80kg or above, want more support through landings, or prefer a board that feels more settled at speed.

Is the Jobe Maddox suitable for beginners?

The Maddox is better suited to intermediate and advanced riders rather than complete beginners. It has a more aggressive 3-stage rocker and a performance-focused feel, so it suits riders who are already edging, crossing the wake and starting to jump with confidence.

What type of riding is the Maddox best for?

The Maddox is designed for boat wakeboarding. It is a good choice for riders who want strong grip, a direct edge and more explosive pop off the wake. It is not designed for cable park obstacles such as kickers or sliders.

Does the Jobe Maddox come with bindings?

This depends on the product option or package selected. As a board-only product, the Maddox includes the wakeboard and removable fins, but bindings are not included unless clearly stated. If you are unsure, contact us before ordering and we can help you build the right setup.

What else do I need to ride this wakeboard?

You will need suitable wakeboard bindings, a wakeboard rope and handle, an impact vest or buoyancy aid, and appropriate boat safety equipment. We can help check compatibility if you are building a complete setup.

Can I use the Maddox at a cable park?

The Maddox is a non-obstacle wakeboard, so it is not intended for kickers, sliders or other park features. It is best kept for behind-the-boat wakeboarding.

Can The SUP Company help me choose the right wakeboard size?

Yes. Send us the rider’s weight, height, ability level and the type of boat use planned, and we can help point you towards the most suitable size and setup.
