The Starboard All Star 2026/2027 is the board we point paddlers towards when they want proper race speed but don’t want a one-trick flatwater shape. It’s built to handle the real world: messy UK chop, tidal flow, beach starts, buoy turns, and the kind of “not quite downwind but definitely not flat” sessions we all end up doing.
If you’re training regularly, lining up on start lines, or simply want the fastest board you can still trust when conditions get lumpy, the All Star is the safest “fast choice” in the Starboard race family.
Where it sits in the Starboard race range
All Star is Starboard’s most versatile race board – the one designed to stay confident when the water stops behaving.
- Choose the All Star if you race or train in mixed conditions (rivers, estuaries, coastal chop, small downwinders) and want one board that can do it all.
- Choose a Sprint if your racing is mainly flatwater and you want maximum straight-line speed in clean conditions.
- Choose a dedicated downwind shape if you’re primarily chasing open-ocean runs and swell linking.

Why choose the All Star
- Race speed you can actually use when it’s windy, choppy, or tidal – not just on glass.
- More stable under pressure thanks to the updated standing area and tail platform.
- Better control in side chop with a more forgiving nose and reduced windage.
- Cleaner, faster turns at buoys and when stepping back in surfy conditions.
- A proper “one-board quiver” for paddlers who race in the UK and Europe across varied venues.
Constructions: which one should you pick?
- Carbon Reflex Sandwich – the premium, race-focused layup. Lighter and more reactive, with a crisp feel under power. Ideal if you’re racing, training hard, or simply want the best performance.
- Wood Carbon – a tough, premium construction that suits paddlers who want a bit more “daily driver” durability while still keeping race pedigree. Great for club racing, travel, and long-term ownership.
Which size should I choose?
With the All Star, width choice is the big decision: narrower = faster feel but more demanding; wider = calmer, more forgiving and often quicker overall for many paddlers in real conditions.
| Size | Volume | Best for | Rider guide |
|---|---|---|---|

| 14'0" x 24.5" | 325L | The sweet spot for many UK racers: fast, still stable enough for chop and tidal venues. | Up to 95kg (approx guide) |
| 14'0" x 23" | 292L | Performance race width for experienced paddlers who want more speed but still all-water confidence. | Up to 85kg (approx guide) |
| 14'0" x 21.5" | 276L | Elite-leaning width for technically strong paddlers or lighter riders chasing maximum pace. | Up to 80kg (approx guide) |

FAQs
Is the All Star good for flatwater racing?
Yes. It’s fast enough to race seriously on flatwater, but the real win is how well it holds speed when there’s wash, wind, or technical turns. If your venue is never anything but glass, a pure flatwater shape can be quicker – but for most UK racing, All Star is the safer “fast” pick.
All Star vs Sprint: which one should I choose?
Go Sprint if you mostly race flatwater and want maximum straight-line pace. Go All Star if you race in mixed conditions (chop, wash, tidal flow) or want one board that stays composed when it gets technical.
Which width is right for me?
As a rule: choose the narrowest width you can paddle efficiently when you’re tired and the water is messy. Many paddlers are quicker overall on a slightly wider board because they can keep power on without bracing. If you tell us your height, weight, experience level and where you paddle, we’ll point you to the best option.
Carbon Reflex Sandwich or Wood Carbon – what’s the difference?
Carbon Reflex Sandwich is the most race-focused feel: light, crisp, and reactive under acceleration. Wood Carbon is a premium, durable option that suits heavy use, travel, and paddlers who want extra peace of mind while keeping race performance.
Does it come with a paddle, fin or bag?
This listing is for the board (and board sock where specified). Paddles, fins and travel bags are typically chosen separately so you can match your setup to your paddling and venue. If you want help building the right package, just drop us a message.
Can I get help choosing a race paddle to match the All Star?
Absolutely. As a starting point, the Starboard Lima suits powerful, direct racing strokes, while the Starboard Velocity is a favourite for smoother, lower-impact cadence over distance. Tell us your paddling style and we’ll guide you.
