The Black Project Hydro Tempo-X Two Piece SUP Paddle is a flat-water performance paddle aimed at paddlers who want to move beyond basic all-round kit and enjoy a smoother, faster and more efficient stroke. It is especially well suited to fitness paddling, distance cruising, fast recreational paddling and paddlers who are starting to care more about cadence, technique and covering water properly.
In the Black Project range, the Hydro Tempo-X is the bridge between the versatile Lava and the more specialised Hydro race paddles. That is exactly why it is such a strong choice for a lot of customers. It gives you a performance-led feel and better efficiency, but it does not ask as much of you as a more locked-in race paddle.
Where it sits in the Black Project range
The Hydro Tempo-X takes ideas from the higher-end race shapes and makes them more forgiving for everyday use. It is smoother and less demanding than the Hydro Synergy-X and Hydro Sprint-X, but clearly more performance-focused than the Lava.

Who should buy the Hydro Tempo-X?
It is ideal for paddlers who spend most of their time on flat water and want a better blend of speed, efficiency and comfort. It suits touring, training and faster recreational paddling extremely well.
Is it a race paddle?
It sits close to race paddles in feel and efficiency, but it is intentionally more forgiving. That makes it a great stepping stone into performance paddling and a strong everyday choice for non-racers too.
How does it compare with the Hydro Synergy-X?
The Synergy-X is the more focused long-distance race option. The Tempo-X is the easier, more approachable paddle for training, touring and performance-minded recreational use.
