Coming Soon: Duotone Foil Assist

Coming Soon: Duotone Foil Assist

Tony Jones |

Later this summer, everything changes. Foiling is about to get easier, smoother, and more fun thanks to a brand-new innovation from Duotone. We can’t give you it’s actual name yet but it is a Duotone Foil Assist, and while full details are still under wraps (including the name), what we do know already puts it firmly in game-changer territory.

At The SUP Company, we’ve had the opportunity to see the Duotone Foil Assist first hand — and we’ve been hugely impressed – checkout our full overview and review with its designer here. It has even competed at some events in the Southern Hemishpere and had some podium topping success. From build quality to performance potential, it’s clear this is something very special with points of difference from what has gone before.

At its core, the Foil Assist is a lightweight electric system that gives you a push exactly when you need and demand it — whether that’s popping up onto foil, extending your ride, or helping you cover more distance on those lighter wind or flattish days. Even working outright as a dedicated eFoil.

The beauty is in how subtle it is. You’re still riding. Still in control. Still feeling every glide. But with a quiet, powerful assist (and it is powerful!) that means you can ride smaller foils, stay up longer, and make more of the conditions in front of you.

The key features (That We Can Talk About…) are enough to get excited:

Streamlined design – The motor is built into the mast, keeping drag low and your setup clean.

Hands-free control – A ring-style remote on your finger means you can still use your paddle, wing or duck dive a wave without compromise.

Battery on your waist – Not on the board. A big point of difference keeping weight around and the foil feeling natural.

Works with most foils and boards – Especially anything with a standard US foil track meaning this will have broad appeal.

Built-in safety – Let go of the remote, and the motor stops. Instantly.

What we have come to love about the Foiling Assists is how well they work for everyone. If you’re just starting out, it takes the hard part out of learning. No more endless paddle-ups or battling light winds — you can focus on getting the feel of foiling. Even making them work as ‘pure’ eFoil’s, cruising around effortlessly on foil.

For more experienced riders, it opens up new gear choices and riding styles. Smaller foils, tighter turns, longer runs, less pumping. It’s not just a tool — it’s a whole new way to foil.

We’ll be one of the very first locations in Europe to have stock on hand — and even better, we’ll have demo units available both in-store and on the water at The SUP Co x Calshot.

That means you won’t have to take anyone’s word for it. Come down to The SUP Co x Calshot shop and test centre, see the system for yourself, and try it first-hand in real-world conditions.

While we have seen the model and used it, its not just the performance but it is the fact that Duotone are not just behind this, they have been working on this for years behind closed doors. The Duotone Foil Assist was developed by Cyril Coste, a long-time innovator in the world of foiling for Duotone. His goal was simple: keep the ride feeling pure and connected, while making foiling more accessible to more people. From what we’ve seen so far, he’s nailed it.

So we’ve wetted your appetite and your want to know more? While Duotone are still holding back some of the details, this is shaping up to be one of the most exciting releases we’ve seen in a long time. If you’re keen to be among the first to ride the Foil Assist — or just want to stay in the loop as more info becomes available — we’re here for it.

Drop us a message or give us a call as pre-orders will be going live soon for both the Duotone Foil Assist and the Duotone eFoil.

We’ll make sure you’re ready when this new chapter in foiling begins.
