Duotone 2026 Wing Foiling – Top 10 FAQs

We get it…. the landscape and sport of wingsurfing can be daunting and at times confusing. So to help breakdown the new products from Duotone, here is our handy Top 10 Frequently Asked Questions to help make sense of it all. Rather talk to a person – then call us us on 02380172189 and we can discuss your needs in more detail as well as share our experience of using the new Duotone wingsurfing range.

1) Which Duotone wing is best for my riding style?

  • Unit 2026: All-rounder for freeride, freestyle, and waves, with excellent drift and handling.
  • Unit SLS / Concept Blue: Balanced between performance and value, lighter and stiffer with eco-friendly options.
  • Unit D/LAB: Premium Aluula Gold construction for the lightest, fastest response.
  • Ventis FS: Designed for light wind and early take-off.

2) What size Unit 2026 should I choose?

Your ideal size depends on your weight and average wind conditions. Lighter riders and strong winds = smaller wings (2.0–4.0 m²). Heavier riders or lighter winds = larger wings (5.0–6.5 m²). For most riders between 75–90 kg in 15–25 knots, a 4.0–5.5 m² is a good starting point.

3) What’s new on the Unit 2026 compared to older versions?

The 2026 Unit has:

  • A refined profile for crisper on/off power.
  • Wider, stiffer leading-edge handles for direct steering.
  • Improved drift stability for wave riding.
  • A MOD3 S canopy for long-term durability.
  • More balanced lift for smoother manoeuvres.

4) Do the wings come with handles or a boom?

No. All 2026 Units are supplied without handles or a boom. Riders can choose Duotone’s Fusion Handles or Fusion Boom, both of which are compatible across the range.

5) How much should I inflate my Unit 2026?

Each wing has a size-specific maximum PSI (e.g. around 11 PSI for smaller wings, reducing slightly for bigger sizes). Inflate to the printed value on your wing for maximum stiffness, control, and drift stability.

6) What are the new Crest D/LAB front wings and which size should I pick?

The Crest D/LAB is designed for carving, pumping, and wave connectivity.

  • 675 & 800 cm²: Higher speeds, lighter riders, powered conditions.
  • 925 cm²: Versatile all-round choice for winging and progression.
  • 1050 cm²: Best for light wind, bigger riders, or early lift.
All are compatible with Duotone D/LAB tails, S & PX stabilisers, and new Monobloc tails.

7) What is a Monobloc tail and why is it important?

A Monobloc tail integrates the stabiliser and rear fuselage into a single carbon piece. This creates:

  • Less drag for more speed and glide.
  • Greater stiffness for control and efficiency.
  • Smoother, more fluid turns.
Duotone 2026 offers Monobloc PX (higher speed/agility) and Monobloc S (swell-focused glide and flow).

8) How do I choose the right tail length for stability or agility?

  • Shorter tails: More manoeuvrable, playful ride.
  • Longer tails: Greater pitch stability, smoother control.
For progression, pair Crest D/LAB 925/1050 with mid/long tails. As you advance, experiment with shorter tails for tighter carving.

9) Should I use a boom or handles for learning transitions?

  • Fusion Boom: Excellent for learning jibes/tacks, gives one-handed control and precise power trimming.
  • Fusion Handles: Lighter, simpler, easier to pack.
The 2026 Unit supports both—choose based on your riding style and progression goals.

10) How can I progress fastest with the 2026 gear?

Use the Duotone Wing Academy App, which now includes 60+ new tutorials across Parawing, Pump Foiling, Prone, Downwind, and Foil Assist. With step-by-step guides and pro tips, it’s the best tool to accelerate progression alongside the new gear.
