Description
Description
The AXIS Surf Performance Carbon Front Wing is for riders who want a foil that feels properly surfy in the pocket. Rather than surging too far ahead of the wave, the SP range is designed to stay with the energy of the swell, carve tightly and feel loose through direction changes. For prone foilers, surf SUP foilers and experienced kite foilers who care more about turning feel than outright pump-and-glide distance, this is one of the most specialist front wings in the AXIS range.
In the AXIS line-up, the SP sits on the more surf-focused side of the spectrum. Where the AXIS PNG V1 Carbon Front Wing leans harder into efficiency, glide and linking sections, the SP is about tighter arcs, better pocket control and a more natural surfboard-like feel. If you want a broader crossover wing with easier lift and wider appeal across surf, SUP and downwind, have a look at the AXIS Spitfire Front Wings. If your priority is loose, expressive wave riding, the SP is the one that makes the most sense.
Why choose the AXIS SP Front Wing?
- Tighter, looser turning: ideal if you want a foil that feels more alive and less locked-in on the wave.
- Better pocket control: helps keep you with the wave rather than constantly outrunning it.
- More surfboard-like feel: especially useful for prone and surf-style SUP foiling.
- Works across disciplines: suitable for prone, SUP, kite, tow and even surfy wing sessions depending on size.
- Clear size progression: 660, 760 and 860 each have a distinct use case rather than overlapping too much.
Which size is right for you?
SP 660: the smallest and loosest-feeling option here. Best for experienced riders in medium to larger surf, tow foiling, or kite foilers who want faster turning and higher top-end control.
SP 760: the middle size and arguably the most balanced if your focus is proper surf foiling. A strong choice for bigger, steeper or punchier waves where you still want that loose SP feel without stepping all the way down to the 660.
SP 860: the biggest and easiest size to access. Best for medium to small waves, lighter-wind kite foiling, bigger-day SUP foiling, or lighter riders wanting more support and a slightly more forgiving entry into the SP feel.

- AXIS Carbon vs. Aluminium Masts: Which is Right for You?
Is the AXIS SP a good first front wing?
Usually not. The SP is a more specialist, surf-led wing aimed at riders who already know they want a looser, more pocket-focused feel. If you are newer to foiling or want a broader crossover option, the Spitfire or a more glide-oriented AXIS wing will usually be easier to live with.
What is the difference between the AXIS SP and AXIS PNG?
The SP is about turning feel, pocket control and a more surfboard-like ride. The PNG is more about pump-and-glide efficiency, linking sections and carrying speed. If you want to carve harder and stay tighter to the wave, choose SP. If you want to connect more and glide further, choose PNG.
Which AXIS SP size should I choose?
Choose the 660 if you are experienced and riding stronger surf or want the loosest, fastest-feeling option. Choose the 760 if you want the most balanced surf-focused size for steeper or punchier waves. Choose the 860 if you want more support for smaller waves, lighter-wind kite foiling or bigger-day SUP foiling.
Can I use the AXIS SP for winging or kite foiling?
Yes, depending on size and rider expectations. The SP 860 in particular makes sense for lighter-wind kite foiling and very surfy wing sessions, while the smaller sizes are more specialist and more wave-focused.
Will this front wing fit my existing AXIS setup?
Possibly, but AXIS compatibility depends on your fuselage generation and the rest of your foil build. If you are mixing older and newer AXIS parts, or building a foil from separate components, it is worth checking with us before ordering so you get the right setup first time.
