Description

The Duotone Paradox SLS 2026 is a specialist mid-length foil board designed for riders who want earlier take-offs, better pump efficiency and a more connected feel when riding bumps, small surf and open-water runners. Developed alongside the Duotone Stash 2026 Parawing, the Paradox SLS has been shaped around one clear goal: helping you get onto foil with less power, then giving you the control and agility to enjoy proper free flight.

This is a board for riders who already have some foil experience and want to push into parawing, freefly winging, foil assist, prone foiling or efficient bump riding. It is not simply a shortened downwind board or a general-purpose beginner wing board. The Paradox SLS has a surfier, more agile outline with a low rocker, step tail and pronounced rail bevels, all working together to reduce drag and improve release while the board is still on the water.

Watch our Duotone Paradox SLS review

In this SUP Company video overview, Tony talks through where the Duotone Paradox SLS fits, who it is best suited to, and why it is such an interesting board for parawing, foil assist and advanced freefly-focused riders.

Where the Paradox SLS sits in the Duotone range

The Paradox SLS sits in the performance mid-length category and overlaps with boards like the Duotone Skybrid SLS and Duotone Midfish, but it has a very different feel and purpose.

Compared with the Skybrid SLS, the Paradox SLS is the more advanced, more surf-orientated option. It has a lower rocker, reduced bottom surface area, more bevel through the rails, a pointier nose and a step tail. In plain English, that means it releases earlier, pumps more efficiently and feels more agile once flying. The trade-off is that it is less forgiving at speed under wing power than the Skybrid, especially for riders using footstraps, riding fast or jumping.

Compared with the Midfish, the Paradox SLS gets up onto foil earlier and is better suited to riding less powered up with a parawing. The Midfish remains Duotone’s dedicated foil assist board and offers excellent control in turns, especially in windier conditions, but the Paradox SLS is the more efficient choice when early lift, glide and pumpability are the priority.

Who should choose the Paradox SLS?

  • Parawingers who want to get onto foil earlier and ride bumps with less power in the wing.
  • Advanced wing foilers who ride flagged out in small surf, river bumps or rolling wind swell.
  • Foil assist riders looking for a light, efficient board for small wave, bump and downwind-style sessions.
  • Prone foilers choosing the smaller sizes for a surfy, pumpable foil board with extra glide.
  • Experienced riders who prefer a mainly strapless setup and want a board that feels lively, direct and connected.

Why choose the Duotone Paradox SLS?

  • Earlier take-offs: the low rocker, efficient outline and reduced bottom area help the board release with less power.
  • Excellent pumpability: the board can be driven forward through your legs while still on the water, making it easier to build enough speed to lift onto foil.
  • Built for parawing free flight: designed alongside the Duotone Stash Parawing to help riders access bumps, glides and downwind-style lines more easily.
  • Surfy and agile: the pulled-in outline and reduced swing weight make the board feel manoeuvrable once flying.
  • Connected foil feel: the reduced thickness and recessed stance area help you feel closer to the foil for better control through turns.
  • Foil assist compatible: a strong option for riders using systems such as Duotone Foil Assist AL or Duotone Foil Assist D/LAB.
  • Lightweight SLS construction: Biax Carbon construction keeps swing weight down, which matters when pumping, turning and linking sections.

Paradox SLS vs Skybrid SLS

Choose the Paradox SLS if... Choose the Skybrid SLS if...
You are focused on parawing, freefly, foil assist, prone foiling or bump riding. You want a more forgiving mid-length wing board for a wider range of rider levels.
You want earlier take-off and better pump efficiency. You want more stability and control at speed under wing power.
You prefer a mainly strapless setup with a surfier feel. You want to ride with both feet in straps or do the occasional jump.
You are an intermediate to advanced rider looking for agility and glide. You want an easier, more confidence-building board for everyday wing foiling.

Paradox SLS vs Midfish

The Duotone Midfish is Duotone’s dedicated foil assist board and remains a brilliant option for powered assist sessions, especially where control through turns is the priority. The Paradox SLS, however, is the more efficient early take-off shape. If you are parawinging, riding less powered up, or using foil assist for downwind-style glides, the Paradox SLS will make more sense for many advanced riders.

Helpful reading and buying advice

FAQs

Is the Duotone Paradox SLS a beginner wing foil board?

No. The Paradox SLS is aimed more at intermediate to advanced riders who already have foil control and want earlier take-offs, better pump efficiency and a more surfy freefly feel. Newer wing foilers will normally be better served by a more stable and forgiving board.

Is the Paradox SLS mainly for parawinging?

Parawinging is the main focus, and the board was developed alongside the Duotone Stash 2026 Parawing. However, it also works well for advanced wing freefly, foil assist, prone foiling in smaller sizes and downwind-style bump riding.

Should I choose the Paradox SLS or the Skybrid SLS?

Choose the Paradox SLS if you want the more advanced, surfy and efficient board for parawing, freefly and bump riding. Choose the Skybrid SLS if you want more stability, better control at speed, more strap options and a more forgiving all-round wing foil board.

Should I choose the Paradox SLS or the Midfish?

Choose the Midfish if your main focus is dedicated foil assist riding and you want compact control under power. Choose the Paradox SLS if you want earlier take-off, better glide and a more efficient board for parawing or foil assist downwind-style sessions.

Can I use the Paradox SLS with Duotone Foil Assist?

Yes. The Paradox SLS is a strong option for experienced riders using foil assist, particularly where early lift, glide and efficient pumping are important. It can work well for small wave, bump and downwind-style foil assist sessions.

Does the Paradox SLS come with footstraps?

No. Footstraps are not included. The board has front footstrap inserts only, with Duotone V-Strap or Single Strap options available separately. This keeps the board light and focused on parawing, freefly and surf-style riding rather than jumping.

Which size Duotone Paradox SLS should I choose?

As a simple guide, smaller sizes suit advanced riders, prone crossover and windier conditions, while the larger sizes add glide and earlier take-off for parawing and foil assist downwind-style riding. If you are unsure, contact The SUP Company with your weight, foil setup, ability and intended use, and we will help you choose the right size.

Specifications

  • Features

    Low rocker for early release
The lower rocker line helps the board accelerate and release earlier. This is especially important when parawinging or downwinding because you are often trying to get flying with less pull than you would have from a powered wing.

    Reduced bottom surface area
The pointier nose, enhanced rail bevels and step tail reduce the amount of board in contact with the water. This makes it easier to pump the foil up through your legs while the board is still touching the surface, rather than feeling like you are dragging a wider platform through the water.

    Step tail for cleaner take-off
The step tail helps the board break free more cleanly as speed builds. On the water, this translates into a more efficient lift onto foil, particularly when you are underpowered or trying to connect a small bump.

    Pulled-in surfy outline
The Paradox SLS has a narrower, more surf-inspired outline than a more forgiving all-round wing board. Once flying, that gives it a lively and manoeuvrable feel, making it well suited to small surf, river bumps, rolling chop and freefly lines.

    Recessed stance area
The reduced thickness and recessed standing area put your feet closer to the foil. That gives a more direct connection through turns and helps the board feel controlled rather than corky underfoot.

    Front footstrap insert options
The board includes front footstrap inserts only. This keeps the board light and focused on freefly, parawing and surf-style riding rather than jumping. Footstraps are not included, with Duotone V-Strap or Single Strap options available separately.

    Lightweight Biax Carbon construction
The SLS Biax Carbon construction keeps the board light and responsive. Lower swing weight makes a noticeable difference when pumping, turning and trying to keep speed between sections.
