The AXIS Black Series Fuselage is for riders building a faster, more performance-focused AXIS foil setup. It is designed around AXIS’s thinner, higher-performance front wings, giving you the direct feel, rigidity and cleaner connection that matters once you start chasing more speed, glide and tighter reactions from your foil.
If you are refining an AXIS setup for wing foiling, prone, SUP foil, pump or higher-speed freeride use, the Black Series sits on the more performance-led side of the range. It is not about making your foil feel bigger or more forgiving. It is about making it feel cleaner, quicker and more precise.
Where the Black Series sits in the AXIS range
In simple terms, Black Series is the choice for riders using AXIS’s thinner, more performance-oriented wing families and wanting a more locked-in, efficient connection. If you are running higher-performance front wings and want the foil to feel sharper under load, this is the right direction.
If you want a more general-purpose, broader-compatibility setup for everyday freeride, surf or early progression, the AXIS Red Series Fuselage is usually the better fit. If you already know you want a quicker, more technical and more performance-led feel, the Black Series is the right move.

Ultrashort 643mm is a brilliant middle ground if you want strong responsiveness without going fully twitchy. For many experienced AXIS riders, this is the sweet spot.
Short 703mm gives a more settled, composed feel with slightly calmer pitch behaviour. It is often the sensible choice if you want performance, but not at the expense of too much control.

Black Series is the more performance-led option, designed around AXIS’s thinner, higher-performance front wings. It is the right choice when you want a sharper, more direct feel. Red Series is the more general-purpose route and often makes more sense for broader compatibility and more everyday freeride or surf-oriented setups.
Which AXIS Black Series fuselage length should I choose?
If you want the loosest, quickest feel, go Crazyshort. If you want a strong all-round performance balance, go Ultrashort. If you want a calmer, slightly more settled ride without stepping out of the performance category, go Short.
Do I need the AXIS Mast Adaptor Doodad?
If you are using an AXIS aluminium mast, yes — you will need the correct doodad adaptor. If you are using an AXIS carbon mast, you do not need it.
Will my rear wing fit the Black Series fuselage?
Rear wing compatibility across the AXIS system is broad. The main thing to check is your front wing, because Black Series is intended for AXIS’s Black Series-compatible performance front wings rather than every AXIS front wing ever made.
Is the Black Series a good choice for newer riders?
Usually only if you already know you are building around a higher-performance AXIS front wing. For many riders earlier in the journey, a Red Series fuselage is often the easier and more forgiving place to start.
