Description

The Code Foils R Series Front Wing is built for riders who want maximum glide, speed and efficiency from their foil. It is the dedicated high-aspect downwind wing in the Code Foils range, designed for SUP downwind foiling, light-wind winging, pumping, dock starts and linking bumps with less rider input.

If the Code S Series is the more versatile everyday option, the R Series is the specialist choice for riders chasing distance, glide and low-drag efficiency. It is not the wing for jumping or aggressive freestyle. It is the wing for going further, carrying more speed and staying on foil when the water has only just enough energy to work with.

Where the R Series sits in the Code Foils range

Choose the R Series if your priority is glide, pump efficiency and open-water performance. The high-aspect shape gives it that long, drawn-out feel that efficient downwind foilers are looking for, helping you connect bumps and keep flying with a calm, stable rhythm.

If you want a more playful foil for tighter turning, general winging, surf-style riding or jumping, the Code Foils S Series Front Wing is likely to be the better all-round choice. If your goal is downwind SUP, flat-water starts, high-efficiency pumping or very light-wind glide, the R Series is the one to look at first.

Why choose the Code Foils R Series Front Wing?

  • Exceptional glide: The 13.0 aspect ratio helps the wing carry speed and cover distance with very little drag.
  • Efficient pumping: Ideal for riders who want to link bumps, connect sections or improve flat-water pump performance.
  • Downwind focused: Built around the needs of SUP downwind foiling and open-water efficiency.
  • High Modulus carbon construction: Designed to keep the wing stiff across its span for a more direct and connected feel.
  • Strong low-end for its size: The larger R Series wings help riders get more out of lighter wind, smaller bumps and marginal conditions.
  • Proven race pedigree: The 770R and 860R have been used at the highest level of downwind foiling, including major race wins.

Which size should you choose?

The right R Series size depends on your weight, ability, board, mast length, riding style and local conditions. As a simple guide, smaller sizes suit faster, more advanced riders and stronger conditions, while the larger sizes give more lift, easier low-end and better access to marginal wind or smaller bumps.

Size Span Area Aspect Ratio Best suited to
600R High Modulus 880mm / 34.6" 600cm² / 93in² 13.0 Advanced riders, high-speed downwind racing and bigger ocean conditions.
770R High Modulus 1000mm / 39.4" 770cm² / 119.3in² 13.0 Experienced downwind riders wanting speed, efficiency and race-level glide.
860R High Modulus 1050mm / 41.3" 860cm² / 133in² 13.0 A strong performance size with more low-end and stability than the smaller R wings.
960R High Modulus 1115mm / 43.9" 960cm² / 148.8in² 13.0 Downwind progression, lighter wind and riders wanting easier access to glide.
1075R High Modulus 1180mm / 46.45" 1075cm² / 166.6in² 13.0 Light-wind winging, early paddle-ups and efficient bump linking.
1250R High Modulus 1275mm / 50.2" 1250cm² / 193.75in² 13.0 Maximum glide, minimal ocean energy, heavier riders and pump-focused sessions.

Compatibility and setup advice

The R Series is designed as part of the Code Foils system, so it should be matched with the correct Code mast, fuselage and rear wing for your riding style. If you are building a complete setup or moving across from another foil brand, speak to The SUP Company before ordering and we can help you choose the right combination.

Small changes in mast position, tail wing choice and board setup can make a big difference with a high-aspect foil. For more setup advice, read our guide on how to position your mast for foiling.

Helpful reading and buying advice

Need help choosing the right R Series size?

High-aspect foils are very sensitive to rider weight, board choice, mast position and local conditions. If you are unsure whether to choose the 860R, 960R, 1075R or 1250R, contact The SUP Company with your weight, board, current foil and where you ride. We will help you choose the size that makes sense rather than simply pushing you towards the biggest or fastest option.

FAQs

Is the Code Foils R Series suitable for beginners?

For most complete beginners, no. The R Series is a high-aspect performance foil designed around glide, efficiency and downwind progression. If you are new to foiling, a more forgiving all-round front wing will usually make progression easier.

Should I choose the R Series or the S Series?

Choose the R Series if you want maximum glide, downwind efficiency, pump performance and light-wind range. Choose the S Series if you want a more versatile everyday foil for winging, turning, surf-style riding or jumping.

Can I jump the Code Foils R Series?

No. The R Series is not designed for jumping. It is built for glide, speed and efficiency rather than hard landings or freestyle use. Jumping the R Series can void warranty, so choose a different front wing if jumping is part of your riding.

Which R Series size is best for light wind?

The 960R, 1075R and 1250R are the sizes most riders will look at for lighter wind, easier paddle-ups and smaller bump energy. The right choice depends heavily on your weight, board and ability, so ask us for size advice if you are unsure.

Is the R Series good for SUP downwind foiling?

Yes. SUP downwind foiling is one of the main reasons the R Series exists. The high-aspect shape helps the foil carry speed, link bumps and stay efficient over distance, which is exactly what downwind riders are looking for.

Does this include a complete foil setup?

No. This product is the front wing only. You will also need a compatible mast, fuselage, rear stabiliser, board and any required hardware to complete the setup.

Specifications

  • Features

High-aspect outline: The R Series has a long, narrow shape with an aspect ratio of 13.0. In plain English, that means less drag, more glide and a calmer, more efficient flight path once you are up and moving.

High Modulus carbon: A long-span foil needs stiffness to feel precise. The High Modulus carbon construction helps the R Series hold its shape under load, giving a more responsive feel when pumping, accelerating and linking bumps.

Downwind efficiency: This is the R Series’ main reason to exist. It is designed to maintain speed across open water, helping you make the most of small energy in the sea rather than constantly needing power from a wing or paddle.

Longboard foil feel: Compared with a more surfy or freestyle-focused foil, the R Series feels smooth, flowing and stable. It is not the snappiest turning wing in the Code range, but it rewards riders who want to glide, pump and cover ground efficiently.

Important use note: The R Series is not designed for jumping. If you want to jump, load hard landings or ride in a more aggressive freestyle style, choose a more suitable front wing instead.
