Description

Duotone Evo SLS 9m – 2026 – Used

This 2026 Duotone Evo SLS 9m is a very lightly used example with no more than approximately six hours of use. It is an excellent opportunity to pick up Duotone's premium SLS all-rounder at a significant saving over a new kite, while still getting a current-generation kite with very little time on the water.

The 9m Evo SLS is arguably one of the most useful sizes in the range. For many UK riders it can sit at the centre of a two or three-kite quiver, combining enough low-end power for general freeriding with the speed, control and depower needed when the wind builds.

Condition

  • Used / pre-owned
  • 2026 model
  • 9m
  • No more than approximately six hours use
  • Very lightly used example

If you are more concerned with getting current SLS performance on the water than having a completely untouched kite, this is a particularly attractive way into the range.

Why Choose the Evo SLS?

The Evo SLS is Duotone's premium performance all-rounder. It combines freeride usability with the speed and response wanted by riders progressing into bigger jumps, kiteloops and more technical riding.

  • Quick, responsive steering – fast enough for loops and active flying without feeling excessively nervous.
  • Strong jumping performance – excellent lift and hangtime for riders progressing their freeride and big-air riding.
  • Direct handling – the stiff SLS frame gives clear feedback through the bar and responds cleanly to steering input.
  • Useful depower range – particularly important in a 9m, where the kite may cover a large part of a rider's everyday wind range.
  • Versatile performance – equally suitable for freeride cruising, boosting, loops, hooked freestyle and directional riding.

Why the 9m Evo SLS?

The 9m is a particularly versatile size. Depending on rider weight and local conditions, it can be an everyday kite for a lighter rider, the middle kite in a three-kite setup, or the smaller powered kite for a heavier rider.

Compared with a 7m or 8m, the 9m gives noticeably more low-end drive and float while still remaining quick enough to feel lively. Compared with a 10m or 11m, it becomes easier to control as the wind strengthens and responds faster through turns and loops.

For a typical UK rider looking to build a versatile quiver, combinations such as 7m / 9m / 12m or 9m / 12m can make a great deal of sense depending on weight, board size and preferred riding conditions.

2026 Evo SLS Performance

The 2026 Evo SLS received refinements to the kite tips and leading-edge geometry designed to improve turning response. In practical terms, the kite reacts quickly to bar input and changes direction cleanly, which becomes particularly noticeable when redirecting after a jump or sending the kite into a loop.

That quicker response does not make the Evo SLS a specialist big-air kite. Its strength remains the fact that it can do a little of everything extremely well, making it a better choice for many riders than owning a highly specialised kite for each discipline.

SLS Construction

SLS stands for Strong Light Superior and represents Duotone's premium construction tier below D/LAB.

The Evo SLS uses materials including Penta TX within its frame to reduce weight while increasing stiffness. A stiffer frame holds the intended kite shape more consistently under load, making steering feel more precise and helping the kite remain composed when riding powered.

For an experienced rider, this translates into a kite that feels crisper and more immediate than the standard Evo without moving into the much higher cost of D/LAB construction.

Evo vs Evo SLS vs Evo D/LAB

Model Best For Character
Duotone Evo Freeride and progression Accessible, dependable and excellent value
Duotone Evo SLS Performance freeride, jumping and loops Lighter, stiffer and more responsive
Duotone Evo D/LAB Maximum-performance riding Lightest, most reactive and most premium option

For most committed recreational riders, the Evo SLS represents an excellent middle ground. You get a very noticeable step up in feel and response over the standard construction without paying the full premium demanded by D/LAB.

Who Does the 9m Suit?

This kite is best suited to an intermediate through advanced rider who wants a highly versatile kite rather than something dedicated solely to one discipline.

It is particularly good for riders who enjoy general freeriding but increasingly want to jump higher, learn loops or ride more aggressively. The predictable handling also means you do not have to be chasing maximum big-air performance every session to appreciate it.

If you are a complete beginner buying your first setup, a standard Evo or another more progression-focused option may represent better value. The benefits of SLS construction become more worthwhile as your riding develops and you begin to use the kite more dynamically.

Typical Uses

  • Performance freeride
  • Boosting and big-air progression
  • Kiteloops
  • Hooked freestyle
  • Directional and wave riding
  • General high-performance all-round kitesurfing

Control Bar & Compatibility

A control bar is not included unless specifically stated elsewhere in this listing.

If you already own a Duotone bar and are unsure about compatibility with the 2026 Evo SLS, contact us and we can help check your existing setup before ordering.

Buying a Lightly Used Evo SLS

Premium kites can make particularly good used purchases when they have genuinely seen very little use. This example has no more than around six hours on the water, giving you access to the 2026 Evo SLS construction and performance at a considerably more attractive price than buying new.

Our used and ex-demo equipment changes regularly, so you can also browse our pre-owned and ex-demo equipment for other one-off kites, boards and watersports equipment.

FAQs

How much use has this 9m Evo SLS had?

No more than approximately six hours. It is a very lightly used 2026 kite.

Is a 9m a useful size for UK conditions?

Yes. For many riders a 9m is one of the most useful kite sizes to own, although the right choice depends on your weight, board size, experience and typical local wind. It can work as an everyday kite for lighter riders or as the middle or smaller kite in a quiver for heavier riders.

Is the Evo SLS mainly a big-air kite?

No. Jumping is one of its strengths, but the Evo SLS is designed as an all-round performance kite. It is equally happy freeriding, looping, riding a directional board or simply covering a wide variety of conditions.

What is the difference between the Evo and Evo SLS?

The Evo SLS uses a lighter and stiffer premium frame construction. This gives it a more direct response, quicker handling and improved structural stability under load. The standard Evo remains an excellent option for riders who prioritise value and straightforward freeride performance.

Should I choose an Evo SLS or Rebel?

Choose the Evo SLS if you want the more versatile kite, particularly if loops and all-round riding are important. A Rebel is the more specialised option if your priority is maximum boosting, hangtime and powered freeride performance.

Should I choose Evo SLS or Evo D/LAB?

The Evo D/LAB is the flagship option and offers an even lighter, stiffer and more reactive feel. The Evo SLS is considerably easier to justify financially and still delivers very high-level performance, making it the sweet spot in the range for many riders.

Can The SUP Company help check whether a 9m is right for me?

Yes. Tell us your weight, ability, board, existing kite sizes and usual riding location and we can help work out whether the 9m fits naturally into your setup.
