Description

The Duotone MonoBloc Tail PX D/LAB is the fast, low-drag option in Duotone’s new D/LAB tail system. If you are building a foil for quicker winging or foil-assist riding and you want the cleanest, most fluid feel possible, this is the tail to look at.

In simple terms, this is the performance choice for riders who want less drag, a more lively turning feel, and a setup that stays composed when the speed comes up. It is built as a one-piece carbon tail and stabiliser, so you get a very direct feel on the water with less hardware, less disturbance, and less resistance.

Within the range, the MonoBloc Tail PX D/LAB sits on the quicker, more agile side. If your priority is higher-speed wing foiling or assist-powered riding, this is the better fit. If you are more focused on swell-powered glide, pumping and longer drawn-out lines, the Duotone MonoBloc Tail S D/LAB is the better alternative.

Why choose the Duotone MonoBloc Tail PX D/LAB?

  • Less drag, more speed: built to be Duotone’s lowest-drag tail option in the D/LAB range.
  • More performance per size: the one-piece construction gives a very efficient feel, so you get strong lift and control without needing a bigger tail than expected.
  • Cleaner, more fluid turns: it feels lively and precise rather than sticky or over-stabilised.
  • Better for faster riding: ideal for riders pushing harder with a wing or using foil assist and wanting the foil to stay free and efficient.
  • Purpose-built D/LAB tuning: designed to pair with Duotone D/LAB front wings for a very refined, high-end setup.

Explore the range

If you are deciding where this sits in the Duotone foil ecosystem, here is the simple version:

  • MonoBloc Tail S D/LAB – best for swell-powered glide, pumping, downwind feel and more planted drawn-out lines.
  • Carve 3.0 D/LAB – a brilliant pairing if you want sharper turning, freestyle energy and fast, reactive surf performance.
  • Crest D/LAB – a strong choice if you want glide with a lively surf/downwind character.
  • Glide 2.0 D/LAB – the direction to go if efficiency, longer flights and smoother pump-and-glide matter most.

Helpful reading & buying advice

Is the MonoBloc Tail PX D/LAB right for me?

Choose the PX if you want the quicker, more slippery feel in the water. It makes the most sense for riders who are already comfortable foiling and want more speed, less drag and a more lively response. If your goal is maximum glide for swell, pumping and downwind-style linking, the MonoBloc Tail S D/LAB is usually the better fit.

What is the difference between PX145 and PX160?

The PX160 is usually the safer choice for medium to larger D/LAB front wings and for riders wanting a little more support. The PX145 is the smaller, freer-feeling option and suits smaller front wings or riders wanting the loosest, fastest setup. One useful point: the PX160 gives lift similar to the older screw-on PX175, so do not assume it rides “small” just because the number is lower.

Will this fit my current foil?

This tail is designed for Duotone D/LAB front wings only. If you are on an older screw-on stabiliser setup or a non-D/LAB front wing, this is not the right tail. If you are unsure, send us your current front wing and mast setup and we will point you in the right direction.

Which front wings pair best with the MonoBloc Tail PX D/LAB?

Duotone particularly recommends it with the Carve 3.0 D/LAB, Crest D/LAB and Glide 2.0 D/LAB. In practice, it is the tail to choose when you want those wings to feel faster, cleaner and a bit more reactive at speed.

Why would I buy this over a standard rear stabiliser setup?

The big gain is efficiency. The MonoBloc design reduces drag and gives a very direct, tidy feel on the water. For riders who notice small changes in release, turning feel and top-end speed, it is a meaningful upgrade rather than just a cosmetic one.

Specifications

  • Features

One-piece carbon tail and stabiliser: instead of a separate fuselage and rear wing, the MonoBloc layout reduces drag and gives a more direct, connected feel under your feet.

Optimised fuselage length by size: each size has its own overall length, so the handling stays balanced rather than just feeling like the same tail scaled up or down.

Size-down efficiency: the PX160 gives lift similar to the older screw-on PX175, which means many riders can go smaller and still keep the support they want.

High-modulus D/LAB carbon layup: this helps the tail feel crisp and reactive without becoming nervous or harsh.

D/LAB-only interface: this tail is made to bolt directly to Duotone D/LAB front wings, so it is the right choice for riders already in that ecosystem or building into it properly.
