Description

The Foil Drive Fusion Complete Kit with 3-Blade Propeller is the high-power, long-runtime option in the Foil Drive range. It is built for riders who want considerably more than a brief take-off boost, combining a 43.2V drive system, 864Wh battery, High Power motor and torque-focused three-blade propeller in one complete package.

Fusion can be set up low on the mast for powered flat-water progression and e-foil-style riding, or positioned higher for surf, downwind, wing and swell-assisted sessions where the motor helps you launch before lifting clear of the water. The three-blade propeller gives this package stronger low-speed drive, making it particularly effective for heavier riders, compact boards and foils that require more speed before releasing onto foil.

This is the Fusion package to choose when dependable take-off power, extended riding time and the ability to use one system across several foiling disciplines matter more than achieving the lightest possible setup.

Why choose the Fusion complete kit with a 3-blade propeller?

  • Stronger low-end thrust: the three-blade propeller grips the water more effectively during acceleration.
  • Better under load: particularly useful for heavier riders, smaller boards and smaller or higher-aspect foils.
  • Longer usable sessions: the 864Wh Fusion 860 battery provides significantly more capacity than a conventional short-burst foil-assist setup.
  • Hybrid use: configure it for powered cruising, learning, surf access, downwind assistance, wing foiling or wave collection.
  • Complete motor installation: supplied with the High Power motor, motor cable and universal motor pod rather than an integrated-mast motor alone.
  • Latest controller platform: the V3 controller provides clear power control, GPS ride information and session tracking.

Who does it suit?

The Foil Drive Fusion Complete Kit is a particularly strong choice for:

  • Riders who want a modular alternative to a dedicated e-foil.
  • Heavier riders who need greater acceleration before the board releases.
  • Foilers using lower-volume boards or smaller, faster front wings.
  • Riders learning to foil in flat water with a correctly sized board and foil.
  • Downwind foilers who want more attempts, longer runs and less range anxiety.
  • Surf foilers who want to motor to offshore swells, reforms or quieter peaks.
  • Wing foilers who want reliable assistance through marginal wind or difficult starts.
  • Experienced riders looking to extend the range of conditions in which their existing equipment can be used.

Why the 3-blade propeller matters

A three-blade propeller does not simply make the system “better” in every area. It changes how the power is delivered.

Compared with a two-blade setup, the three-blade propeller produces more torque at lower RPM. This helps the motor maintain its grip when the board is moving slowly and the system is working hardest. The result is a stronger, more deliberate push during water starts and initial acceleration.

It is especially useful when:

  • The rider is placing more load on the system.
  • The board is compact, low volume or slow to release from the water.
  • The front wing is smaller or needs more speed to generate lift.
  • The motor is positioned close to the surface and may partially breach as the board rises.
  • Consistent take-offs matter more than maximum top-end speed.

The trade-off is slightly lower top-end speed and greater battery consumption when the additional thrust is used continuously. Prolonged full-throttle e-foiling with a three-blade propeller can build more heat and may cause the system to enter thermal protection mode. It is best viewed as a torque-focused configuration rather than a free increase in every area of performance.

Powerful enough for more than take-offs

Fusion operates at a nominal 43.2V and can produce up to approximately 34kg of thrust. This gives it the drive needed to move larger riders and more demanding setups, while the 864Wh battery provides enough capacity for extended practice, exploration and hybrid powered sessions.

Runtime varies considerably. Rider weight, board drag, foil size, motor position, water state, propeller choice and throttle use all make a difference. A rider using brief bursts to catch waves or begin downwind runs will normally achieve a much longer overall session than someone riding continuously under motor power.

The important difference is that Fusion gives you options. It can provide repeated short assists over a long session, or it can be set up lower on the mast for more sustained powered riding.

Adjust the motor position as your riding develops

The complete motor system uses a universal motor pod, allowing the motor position to be adjusted on a compatible foil mast.

Lower motor position

A lower motor position keeps the propeller submerged as the board rises. This provides more consistent drive and is the preferred setup for learning, flat-water starts and e-foil-style riding.

Mid-mast position

A mid position gives a useful balance between powered support and reduced drag. It can help progressing riders learn to lift the motor out of the water without immediately moving to a high-performance setup.

Higher motor position

A higher motor position is used when the priority is take-off assistance followed by more natural unpowered foiling. Once the motor clears the water, drag is greatly reduced and the foil can glide more freely.

The correct position depends on your discipline, mast length, board, foil and experience. There is no single height that works best for every rider.

Fusion 860 battery

The supplied Fusion 860 is a one-piece 864Wh battery designed specifically for the Fusion 43V system. Its enhanced battery-management system includes Bluetooth connectivity for compatible battery information and firmware support through the Foil Drive ecosystem.

The battery is supplied with a dedicated caddy that:

  • Displays battery charge information.
  • Helps discharge the battery towards a suitable storage level.
  • Provides USB-A and USB-C power-bank connections.
  • Supports more convenient handling away from the board.

Fusion batteries and chargers use their own 43V architecture. Batteries and chargers from the Assist MAX or Assist SLIM must not be substituted.

Foil Drive V3 controller

The supplied V3 controller gives the Fusion system a more refined interface, with a bright display and GPS-based ride information including speed, distance and session tracking.

Its control options make it easier to match power delivery to the rider. Proportional trigger control allows the throttle to be built gradually, while stepped power settings can help learners limit acceleration and create a more predictable response.

The Fusion electronics also include an integrated tilt sensor. This can be configured to stop the motor when the board exceeds a selected angle, helping reduce the chance of the motor continuing to run if the board rolls during a fall.

For a closer look at the controller, read our Foil Drive V3 controller guide.

Fusion or Assist MAX?

The Foil Drive range includes systems aimed at different styles of riding. Fusion is not automatically the right choice simply because it is the most powerful.

Choose Fusion when:

  • You want the longest-runtime Foil Drive platform.
  • You intend to use the system for powered flat-water riding as well as foil assist.
  • You are a heavier rider or regularly use demanding board and foil combinations.
  • You want enough range for longer upwind, downwind or exploratory sessions.
  • You value maximum versatility more than minimum installed weight.

Choose Assist MAX when:

  • Your priority is a lighter and more compact foil-assist setup.
  • You primarily need short bursts of power to catch waves or begin runs.
  • You want less weight beneath a small surf or prone board.
  • You already have reliable take-off technique and do not need Fusion-level battery capacity.

Fusion has more battery capacity and power, but it is also longer and heavier. Riders chasing the most natural surf-foil feel may still prefer an Assist MAX. Riders wanting one system to cover powered progression, longer sessions and multiple disciplines are more likely to benefit from Fusion.

Board and foil compatibility

Fusion is compatible with a wide range of foil boards and plate-mounted foil systems, but compatibility should be checked before ordering. The board needs suitable twin mast tracks, enough track length and sufficient underside clearance for the Fusion unit and nose profile.

The universal pod fits many mast profiles, although some masts require a dedicated pod or a different installation approach. Cable length and motor position also need to suit your mast length and intended discipline.

Purpose-built boards such as the AXIS Pocket Trench Foil Board recess the Foil Drive unit into the board, helping create a cleaner installation and a more natural standing position.

Before ordering, send us the following information if you need a compatibility check:

  • Your weight and foiling experience.
  • Board make, model, size and volume.
  • Foil brand and mast model.
  • Mast length.
  • Front-wing model and size.
  • Your intended riding style.
  • Whether you want powered riding, take-off assistance or both.

Important compatibility exclusions

  • Fusion must be used with a compatible Fusion 43V battery.
  • Fusion must be charged with the correct 43V Foil Drive charger.
  • Assist MAX and Assist SLIM batteries are not compatible with Fusion.
  • Assist MAX and Assist SLIM chargers must not be connected to a Fusion battery.
  • A standard complete motor and an integrated-mast motor use different installation components.
  • The three-blade hub must always be fitted with three matching propeller blades.
  • Damaged or unmatched propeller blades should not be combined, as an unbalanced propeller can cause vibration and component damage.

Who may prefer a different setup?

Fusion may be more system than you need if your only requirement is a short power boost into waves. It is also unlikely to be the first choice for a highly experienced prone rider building the lightest possible surf-foil setup.

Consider an Assist MAX if lower installed weight and a more compact unit matter more than maximum range. Consider a two-blade propeller if you prioritise top-end speed, lower power consumption and a cleaner off-throttle feel over maximum take-off torque.

You can explore replacement and alternative propeller options in our Foil Drive three-blade propeller range.

Setup and care

Correct setup is essential. Before each session, check the mast plate, split bolts, motor pod, cable routing, propeller hardware, battery connection, controller connection and programmed safety settings.

After riding in salt water:

  • Rinse the system thoroughly with clean fresh water.
  • Remove and rinse the rotor and stator as directed by Foil Drive.
  • Check the propeller blades and hub for impact damage.
  • Inspect the anode and replace it when required.
  • Allow components to dry before closing the storage case.
  • Keep seals and specified connections correctly lubricated.
  • Store the battery disconnected from the Fusion electronics.
  • Use the battery caddy’s storage function before longer periods without use.

Do not store the battery fully charged for extended periods. Follow the Foil Drive battery-care guidance supplied with the product.

Try Foil Drive before you buy

Foil Drive performance depends on far more than motor power alone. Board length, volume, foil area, mast length, rider weight and motor position all influence how easily the system takes off and how it feels once flying.

Selected Foil Drive and foil equipment may be available through our Lymington Try It Now service. Demos are subject to rider suitability, equipment availability and safe conditions, and must be arranged in advance.

Eligible customers can also explore our watersports finance options, subject to product eligibility, lender approval and checkout availability.

Foil Drive Fusion Complete Kit FAQs

Is this the complete Foil Drive Fusion package?

Yes. This package includes the Fusion electronics, Fusion 860 battery, charger, V3 controller, complete High Power motor system, universal motor pod and three-blade propeller configuration. You will still need a compatible foil board and complete hydrofoil.

Does it include all three propeller blades?

Yes. This listing is for the complete three-blade configuration rather than an upgrade intended to reuse two blades from an existing propeller.

Why choose three blades instead of two?

The three-blade setup provides more low-end torque and a stronger push during take-off. It is particularly useful for heavier riders, smaller boards, smaller foils and motor positions close to the surface. A two-blade setup normally offers better top-end speed and lower power consumption.

Is Fusion a foil assist or an e-foil?

It can be configured for either style of use. Install the motor lower on the mast for sustained powered riding, or position it higher so it assists the take-off before lifting out of the water for unpowered foiling.

Can a beginner learn on the Fusion?

Yes, when it is paired with a suitably stable board and forgiving foil. The extra power and runtime allow repeated flat-water practice without relying on wind, waves or a tow. It is not a substitute for safe instruction, correct equipment or suitable conditions.

How long will the Fusion 860 battery last?

There is no single fixed runtime. Short take-off assists can support a long overall session, while continuous high-power riding will use the battery considerably faster. Rider weight, foil choice, motor depth, water conditions and throttle use all affect the result.

Can I run the three-blade propeller at full throttle continuously?

The three-blade setup draws more power when delivering its additional torque. Extended full-throttle use can reduce runtime and build more heat, potentially causing the electronics to enter thermal protection mode. Use controlled throttle and follow Foil Drive’s operating guidance.

Will Fusion fit my current foil?

It is compatible with many plate-mounted foil systems, but mast profile, board clearance, mast tracks, cable length and motor position must all be checked. Contact us with your exact equipment details if you are unsure.

Can I use an Assist MAX battery with Fusion?

No. Fusion is a 43V system and must be used with the correct Fusion battery and Fusion-compatible charger. Assist MAX and Assist SLIM batteries and chargers are not interchangeable with Fusion.

Does the package include a foil or board?

No. This is the complete electrical propulsion package. The foil board, mast, fuselage, front wing and stabiliser are sold separately unless clearly included within a separately advertised complete board-and-foil package.

What safety equipment should I use?

Use a suitable watersports helmet, impact or buoyancy vest and an appropriate board-leash arrangement for your location and discipline. Keep the propeller clear of people, loose lines and equipment, and always release the throttle before approaching the motor.
