Infinity Futura 14'0" Race SUP

The Infinity Futura joins the Infinity race SUP range with four 14ft size options: 20.5" / 240 litres, 22" / 256 litres, 23.5" / 273 litres and 25" / 290 litres. For paddlers considering their next race board, this gives a choice of progressively wider platforms without changing board length.

The most important decision is choosing a size that supports your paddling, not simply your ambitions. A narrow board is only useful when you can apply power confidently, maintain your technique and move around it comfortably. Four sizes: finding your Futura

This is general width-selection guidance, not a manufacturer rider-weight chart. Width and volume alone do not establish a board’s load capacity or suitability for a particular paddler.

14'0" x 20.5" — 240 litres

The 20.5" Futura is a specialist choice. Before selecting it, you should already have a clear understanding of how you perform on a very narrow race board—not just while paddling straight ahead on calm water, but during starts, turns, wash and the closing stages of a tiring session.

If you regularly interrupt your stroke to brace, moving wider is likely to be more useful than committing to the smallest dimensions. Consider this size when your balance and technique are already well established.

14'0" x 22" — 256 litres

The 22" adds 1.5" of width and 16 litres compared with the smallest Futura. It remains a narrow option that deserves careful consideration, particularly if you are moving across from a substantially wider board.

For an experienced racer, this is a size to assess against your existing setup and race conditions. Do not assume that two different board models of the same width will feel equally stable: hull shape, standing position and volume distribution also affect the experience.

14'0" x 23.5" — 273 litres

The 23.5" sits between the narrow 22" and the widest 25" option, with 273 litres of volume. It is worth considering if you want to retain relatively narrow race-board dimensions while allowing more width than the two smallest sizes.

When comparing sizes, assess whether you can maintain your normal stance and full stroke rather than tightening up or shortening your reach. The right choice should remain manageable when you are tired, not only during the first few minutes on the water.

14'0" x 25" — 290 litres

The 25" is the widest Futura and carries the greatest volume at 290 litres. It is the logical starting point within this range for paddlers prioritising additional width or comparing a move from a wider race board.

However, 25" is still narrow compared with many touring and all-round paddleboards. It should not be treated as a beginner option simply because it is the widest Futura, and its volume should not be converted into an assumed maximum rider weight.

Choosing a race board that works for you

Before choosing your Futura, consider these practical questions:

• What do you paddle now? Your current board’s model, width and volume provide a much better starting point than body weight alone.
• Where do you lose speed? If balance corrections interrupt your stroke, reducing width may make that problem more noticeable.
• What conditions do you encounter? Factor in boat wash, sidewinds and disturbed water rather than choosing solely around sheltered conditions.
• How long are your sessions? A board needs to remain manageable as fatigue builds during training or racing.
• How confident is your footwork? Assess moving back for turns and returning to your normal stance, not just straight-line paddling.
