If you have mastered the basics on flat water and are now looking for a board that can handle the unpredictable nature of a river environment, the Wild offers the stability and durability required to navigate technical lines with confidence.

Within the Red Paddle Co range, the Wild sits alongside the Voyager as a specialist shape. While the Voyager is built for long-distance efficiency, the Wild is engineered specifically for maneuverability and resilience. It is significantly wider and higher in volume than an all-rounder like the Ride 10'6", providing the necessary "pop" to clear standing waves and the stability to stay upright in turbulent water. This is the correct choice for river specialists; however, if your paddling is primarily on lakes or the coast with only occasional calm river use, you may find the specialized rocker and width of the Wild less efficient for straight-line tracking.

Is this board suitable for beginners?

While very stable, the Wild is designed for a specific environment. If you are a total beginner looking to paddle on flat water, the width and rocker will make it feel slower than an all-around board. It is best suited for those specifically targeting river environments.

Can I use a standard leash with this board?

For river paddling, we strongly recommend using a Quick Release Waist Belt rather than a standard ankle leash. In fast-flowing water, being able to detach yourself from the board quickly is a vital safety requirement. You can find more information in our SUP Safety Guide.

Does it come with a paddle?

This package includes the board, bag, and pump. We recommend pairing the Wild with a durable carbon-nylon paddle that can withstand the occasional strike against river rocks.
