Starboard Tall Twin XTEC Carbon
The Starboard Tall Twin XTEC Carbon brings a more playful approach to longboard SUP surfing. Its extended outline helps you catch waves early and carry speed through softer sections, while the twin-fin tail gives you the freedom to tighten your turns. It suits surfers who enjoy moving along the board, trimming and exploring the nose, but still want to step back and carve.
For intermediate and experienced SUP surfers, the appeal is versatility within a wave: draw out a flowing line, move forward when the section allows, then return to the tail for a more active turn.
Why choose the Tall Twin?
- Longboard glide: length and a generous nose outline support wave entry, cross-stepping and nose riding.
- Freer turning: the twin-fin arrangement encourages a looser feel than a conventional longboard setup.
- Central bottom channel: contributes lift and directional control without relying on a large centre fin.
- Vee through the tail: helps the board roll between its rails.

XTEC Carbon construction
XTEC Carbon combines a strategically placed unidirectional carbon load frame with an expanding epoxy resin system, twin T-Stringers and wood Omega stringers. Reinforcement around the standing area, rails and other high-stress zones supports regular use, while the carbon layout manages flex and rebound.
Choose XTEC Carbon for its balance of durability and performance. Carbon Reflex is the upgrade to consider if lower weight and a more immediate response are your priorities.

Choose around your everyday conditions, not just your best session. A smaller board is only an upgrade if you can still stand comfortably, position yourself and paddle into waves. If your local break is choppy or you spend long periods waiting between sets, retaining some extra width and volume can be the better decision.

Fin setup and compatibility
The XTEC Carbon specification uses two Armacore Twinz side fins and an Armacore Twinz centre fin, with Surf Boxes at the sides and centre. The 94-litre Tall Twin belongs to the Carbon Reflex specification rather than this XTEC Carbon size range.
When buying replacement fins, match the fitting to the XTEC Carbon board. Do not assume that fins specified for the Carbon Reflex version use the same attachment system.
Frequently asked questions
Is this suitable as my first paddleboard?
We would recommend it for paddlers who already have SUP surfing experience. For learning basic balance, family paddling or predominantly flat-water use, choose a board around those needs before prioritising surf performance.
Should I choose the smallest size I can paddle?
Only if that choice works in your normal conditions. Consider how reliably you can turn towards an approaching wave and accelerate into it. Losing too much standing stability can cost you more waves than a smaller board helps you surf.
What else should I consider for my setup?
