Starboard Tear Drop US Fin Box
The Starboard Tear Drop US Fin Box is a replacement fin box for repairing a compatible paddleboard’s centre-fin mounting point. If your existing box is cracked or damaged, replacing it can restore a secure fin connection and help keep an otherwise serviceable board on the water.
We also stock the red fitting skirt used to mount the box to an inflatable paddleboard. The box holds the fin, while the fitting skirt provides the mounting interface between the box and the board. If you are replacing the complete assembly, check whether you need both components before ordering.
Check Compatibility Before Ordering
A US fin fitting does not mean the replacement box will fit every paddleboard. The fin connection and the way the box attaches to the board are separate compatibility checks. Compare the shape, dimensions and mounting arrangement of your existing box before purchasing.
This box is intended for compatible US-box fins. Slide-in fins secured with a retaining clip, FCS fins and Futures fins use different fittings and are not direct replacements.
If you are unsure, send The SUP Company a clear photograph of your existing fin box, its measurements and your board’s make and model. Include a photograph of the surrounding mounting area so we can help identify whether you need the box, the red fitting skirt or both.
Fitting Advice
Replacing a fin box on an inflatable paddleboard is a bonded repair. Correct alignment, surface preparation and an adhesive suitable for the board and mounting materials are essential. If you are unfamiliar with inflatable-board repairs, we recommend using an experienced repairer.

This is the mounting box that holds a compatible centre fin. It is intended for fin-box repairs, rather than replacing a lost fin.
What is the red fitting skirt for?
The red fitting skirt is the mounting component used with the box when fitting it to a compatible inflatable paddleboard. We also stock this part; please check the components you are ordering if you need the complete mounting assembly.
Will it fit every Starboard inflatable paddleboard?
Do not assume compatibility from the brand alone. Check your board’s existing box shape, dimensions and mounting arrangement, as these can vary between models and years.
Can I use it to convert a slide-in fin system to a US fin box?
It is not a direct slot-in conversion. Changing fin-box systems requires assessing the board’s mounting surface, removing the existing assembly where necessary and bonding a suitable replacement in position. Contact us with photographs before ordering parts for a conversion.
