We are very excited to see Fanatic add the all new Aero Glide range of wings to their already extensive range of foils for wing surfing and windsurfing. Designed by John Brunner of Fanatic Foils, the Aero Glide foil range features a much higher aspect ratio than anything Fanatic have done in the past. Using roughly an aspect ratio of 9.5 across the whole range means the Aero Glide delivers you a lot more glide hence the name. The efficiencies such a high aspect wing is not only realised in extended glide enabling you to connect bumps a lot easier but also maneuvering. You can sort of glide through your tacks and turns a lot longer and therefore much easier than before. Normally, such large wing spans as featured across the Aero Glide range would make it very hard to roll from side to side, making it a little bit stiff as this style of wing turns so this is something John and several Fanatic pro team riders worked very hard on eliminating. Fluidity when turning was a large goal during development of this foil wing and the hard work has paid off. The wing tips of the Aero Glide range have profiles that use quite a bit of twist towards their ends and reduced camber. This means most of the lift is being generated in the centre of the wing. As you will see from the outline of each Aero Glide, that’s where most of the surface area of the foil is located. And as it is from this point as you move towards to the tips, the wing gets thinner and thinner and less and less lift coming from the wingtip allowing you the rider a rewarding and agile, responsive, fun ride.

The wings themselves use a full carbon lay up to ensure they are very stiff and connect seamlessly to the long standing and proven range of Fanatic fuselages. As riders and the sport of foiling has progressed, jumping has come more and more to the fore. The rigidity in the Aero Glide range means that if you do want to jump in, you will have no issues on loading up for take-off or landing. This strength and rigidity not only comes from the wings themselves but also the whole Fanatic foil system; mast, top plate & fuselage play key roles in performance, and this is where Fanatic shines. All too often we see competitors choose weight over strength; while Fanatic seem to have found a sweet spot, perfectly balancing these two factors in their foil set ups.

To further enhance the performance of the Aero Glide foils, Fanatic have launched the new GL rear stabilisers. Similar aspect ratios as to the already proven rear stabs but much, much smaller surface areas. These other rear stabilisers are also pretty much flat the whole way and the winglets have been removed. These new stabilisers are key in making the Aero Glide front wings responsive and fast turning yet ensure the whole system remains sure footed and stable at high speed.
If you are wanting to take your Fanatic foil system to the next level in terms of efficiency, glide and light wind performance or simply looking for a proven foil system with a wide range of wings that allow lots of room for progression; then the Fanatic Aero Glide and a Fanatic foil set up is for you.
