Why the Starboard All Star Airline is such an important inflatable SUP

The main difference is simple: if you want the latest graphics and are happy to wait until late October, the 2027 model may appeal. If you want the performance and technology of the All Star Airline at the strongest price, we would choose the discounted 2026 board.
This is exactly the sort of previous-model-year purchase we like. You are saving money because a new season is approaching, rather than because the outgoing product has suddenly become technically dated.
What makes the All Star Airline different from a normal inflatable?
The key word is Airline.
Starboard's Airline Technology uses a tensioned aramid cable running along the board. As the board is inflated and the system tensioned, it helps resist bending through the hull.
In plain English, the board feels noticeably more rigid when you accelerate and put power through the paddle.
The 2026 generation also uses Starboard's Quick Tension System, making it easier to correctly tension the Airline cable during setup.
Combine that with twin carbon deck stringers, a carbon centre stringer through the hull and welded rail construction and you have an inflatable specifically engineered around performance rather than simply portability.
Why stiffness matters on a race inflatable
Imagine putting in a hard paddle stroke while standing in the middle of a softer inflatable board.
If the board bends noticeably underneath you, some of the energy you are producing goes into flexing the board rather than driving it forwards.

Choose the 14'0" x 24.5" if...
You already paddle narrower performance boards, have good balance and want the liveliest, quickest-feeling option in the range.
The 24.5" rewards technique, but it is not the board we would automatically put everyone onto simply because it is narrower.
Choose the 14'0" x 26" if...
You want what we regard as the sweet spot in the range.
At 26" wide, it still feels properly quick but gives most paddlers enough stability to put power down effectively when there is wind, chop or race wash.

Choose the 14'0" x 28" if...
You are a heavier rider, are moving across from a wider touring board, regularly paddle rougher water or simply value confidence over chasing the narrowest possible platform.
A common mistake is assuming that the narrowest board must always be fastest.
It is only faster if you are stable enough to paddle it properly. A paddler comfortably applying power on the 28" can easily be quicker in real conditions than the same paddler constantly correcting their balance on the 24.5".

Performance paddlers without hard-board storage
This is probably the most obvious customer.

Is the All Star Airline only for racing?
