Duotone Free 2.0 1600 Complete Foil Set – 82cm Aero Mid QM SLS – Lightly Used
This lightly used Duotone Free 2.0 1600 complete foil setup combines one of Duotone's most accessible progression front wings with a premium 82cm Aero Mid QM SLS carbon mast. It is a particularly good package for riders who want the early lift and forgiving control of the Free 2.0 without settling for an entry-level aluminium mast.
The Free 2.0 1600 is paired with its recommended PX225 rear stabiliser and the longer 74cm Aero AL 3BS fuselage, creating a stable, predictable foil that is easy to get flying and reassuring through transitions. The 82cm carbon Quickmount mast then adds a lighter, stiffer and much more direct connection to the board.
This setup has been lightly used and remains in very good overall condition. It is supplied with its protective covers, making it an excellent-value route into a high-quality Duotone carbon-mast foil package.

Why We Like This Setup
There is quite a lot to like about this particular combination. The Free 2.0 1600 is deliberately easy to foil, but fitting it to Duotone's carbon Aero Mid QM SLS mast makes the overall package feel considerably more refined than a typical beginner setup.
The 1600 has plenty of central surface area, so it builds lift progressively rather than suddenly. That makes getting onto foil more predictable and reduces the amount of aggressive pumping technique required. Once flying, it remains stable at relatively low speeds while still having enough glide and turning ability to keep progressing.
The longer 74cm fuselage adds pitch stability, while the larger PX225 rear stabiliser further settles the foil. Combined with an 82cm mast, the result is an extremely sensible UK all-round setup for riders wanting to build confidence without buying equipment they will immediately outgrow.
Duotone Free 2.0 1600 Front Wing
The Free 2.0 sits in the freeride and all-round section of Duotone's foil range. Rather than chasing maximum speed or the tightest possible turns, its priority is easy take-off, stability, control and progression.
The 1600cm² version is the middle size in the Free 2.0 range and arguably the most versatile. It provides considerably more low-speed lift than a smaller performance foil while remaining much more manageable than an oversized first-flight wing.
- 1600cm² area: plenty of lift for progression and lighter-wind freeriding.
- 106cm span: efficient enough to provide useful glide without becoming excessively difficult to turn.
- Aspect ratio 7.0: a balanced mid-aspect shape combining stability, glide and manoeuvrability.
- Passive take-off: builds lift gradually without demanding an advanced pumping technique.
- Low stall speed: helps the foil keep flying when your speed drops during early gybes and transitions.
- Good pitch stability: reduces the amount of constant front-to-back correction required from the rider.
- Thin, upturned tips: give the larger wing a more responsive feel through turns than its surface area might suggest.
- Carbon and fibreglass hybrid construction: balances stiffness, durability, weight and cost.
PX225 Stabiliser – The Correct Match for the 1600
The supplied PX225 (OG) is the recommended stabiliser size for the Free 2.0 1600 rather than an arbitrary mix of separate foil components.
The PX (OG) uses a durable glass construction and is deliberately tuned towards control and forgiveness. Compared with a smaller, more performance-focused rear wing, it gives the foil greater pitch support and a smoother feel at lower speeds.
That is especially useful when learning gybes, recovering from changes in height or simply trying to concentrate on your wing and board rather than constantly managing the foil beneath you.
74cm Aero AL 3BS Fuselage
The supplied Duotone Aero AL 3BS 74cm fuselage is the stability-focused option within the Duotone range.
Fuselage length has a very noticeable influence on the way a foil behaves. A short fuselage produces a quicker, looser foil but requires better pitch control. Moving to 74cm gives the rider more time to react and creates a noticeably calmer platform.
- 74cm length: prioritises stability and predictable pitch control.
- Excellent progression choice: particularly useful when learning sustained flights and transitions.
- Good glide: complements the efficient 1600cm² front wing.
- Aluminium construction: strong, stiff and well suited to a larger progression front wing.
- Modern 3BS connection: provides compatibility with Duotone's current modular foil platform.
If you later become more performance-focused, moving to a shorter 66cm fuselage is one way of making the same foil noticeably more reactive without replacing the whole setup.
82cm Aero Mid QM SLS Carbon Mast
The standout upgrade in this package is the Duotone Aero Mid QM SLS 82cm carbon mast.
Many Free 2.0 progression setups are built around an aluminium mast. The Aero Mid QM SLS takes the same accessible foil and gives it a lighter, stiffer and more direct connection. This becomes increasingly noticeable as your riding improves and you start applying more pressure through turns.
- 82cm length: Duotone's excellent all-round mast size for wing foiling.
- Prepreg carbon construction: lighter and more performance-orientated than a standard aluminium mast.
- Strong torsional stiffness: provides a more precise connection between board and foil.
- Lower-drag profile: designed to sit between Duotone's thicker SLS mast and ultra-thin D/LAB options.
- Quickmount system: makes repeated setup and pack-down substantially easier.
- Ideal all-round length: enough clearance for chop and carving without feeling unnecessarily tall for progression.
What Is Duotone Quickmount?
The Quickmount system is particularly useful if you foil regularly. The base plate can remain positioned in the board tracks, allowing the mast to be attached or removed from the plate quickly rather than undoing and repositioning four track bolts every session.
It means you can maintain your preferred mast position while making transport and storage considerably easier.
Who Is This Foil Best For?
We would recommend this setup to a beginner who has already completed their first lessons, a progressing wing foiler, or an intermediate rider who values easy lift and relaxed freeriding.
It is especially well suited to:
- Riders developing consistent take-offs and longer flights
- Learning gybes and other transitions
- Heavier riders wanting useful low-speed support
- Riders foiling in lighter or inconsistent UK winds
- Anyone wanting a forgiving foil with a premium carbon mast
- Freeriders who prefer control and easy cruising over maximum speed
- Mid-length foil boards where the Free 2.0's easy take-off and glide work particularly well

Who Might Want Something Else?
If you are already an advanced rider chasing maximum speed, aggressive wave turns or freestyle performance, the Free 2.0 1600 is probably more foil than you need. In that case, a smaller foil from the Duotone foil range such as a Carve or Glide will give a faster and more reactive ride.
Likewise, very light riders who are already confidently foiling may prefer the smaller Free 2.0 1300. At the other end of the scale, a heavier first-time rider or somebody learning predominantly in very light winds may benefit from the larger 1900.
Free 2.0 1600 vs Free 2.0 1300
The 1600 is the easier of the two. It generates lift sooner, has a lower stall speed and gives you more margin for error as speed changes. The 1300 is quicker and more manoeuvrable, but requires more confidence during take-off and transitions.
For a rider whose priority is progression rather than outright performance, we would generally favour the 1600.

A Progression Foil You Can Keep
What makes this used setup particularly interesting is the combination of an easy Free 2.0 wing with a mast that you are unlikely to feel the need to upgrade anytime soon.
The 1600/PX225/74cm combination keeps the learning curve manageable, while the Aero Mid QM SLS mast provides the stiffness, low weight and direct feel expected from a considerably more premium setup.
As your riding progresses, the modular Duotone 3BS platform also means you can retain the mast and add smaller or more performance-focused compatible wings rather than replacing everything at once.

FAQs
What condition is this foil setup in?
This is a lightly used, pre-owned setup in very good overall condition. There may be minor cosmetic signs of normal use, so please refer to the product photographs for its exact condition.
Are the protective covers included?
Yes. This setup is supplied complete with its protective covers.
Is the Free 2.0 1600 suitable for learning?
Yes. The Free 2.0 is specifically designed around easy lift, low-speed stability and predictable handling. We would regard the 1600 as an excellent progression size for many riders once they have had initial tuition and are ready to develop independent foiling.
Why is the PX225 fitted?
The PX225 is Duotone's recommended stabiliser pairing for the Free 2.0 1600. Its larger surface area and forgiving construction help give the foil stable pitch control and smooth behaviour at lower speeds.
What difference does the 74cm fuselage make?
The longer 74cm fuselage increases pitch stability compared with shorter performance fuselages. That makes the foil calmer and more predictable, giving progressing riders more time to react to changes in foil height.
Is an 82cm mast a good length for wing foiling?
Yes. For most general wing foiling, 82cm is an excellent all-round mast length. It provides useful clearance through chop and when carving while remaining manageable for progression and everyday freeriding.
Why choose the SLS carbon mast instead of aluminium?
The carbon Aero Mid QM SLS mast is lighter and provides a stiffer, more direct connection between the board and foil. That improves feedback and control as your riding progresses, while the Quickmount system also makes setup and pack-down easier.
Can I upgrade to a smaller front wing later?
Yes. That is one of the main attractions of this package. The 3BS mast and fuselage form part of Duotone's modular foil platform, so compatible alternative front wings and stabilisers can be added as your ability and riding style develop.
Is this better than buying a basic beginner foil?
For a rider committed to progressing, we think it can be. The Free 2.0 remains forgiving enough to learn on, but the premium carbon Quickmount mast gives you a component worth keeping as you move onto smaller and more performance-focused wings.
