Paddle Boards at The SUP Company

Whether you’re buying your first SUP or upgrading to something faster, stiffer or more specialised, this is where you’ll find the best paddle boards for UK conditions — from easy all-rounders to touring shapes, surf-style boards and race-ready designs.

We stock a huge range of inflatable paddle boards (easy to store, travel-friendly, brilliant value) and hard/composite SUPs (maximum performance, speed and glide). If you’re not sure what suits you best, tell us your height/weight, where you’ll paddle, and what you want from the board — and we’ll point you at a setup that makes sense.

Shop paddle boards by type

Inflatable Paddle Boards – packable, durable, ideal for cars, vans and storage at home.

Composite Paddle Boards – the choice for maximum glide, speed and responsiveness.

Allround Paddleboards – stable, confidence-building boards for beginners and families.

Touring Paddleboards – longer, straighter tracking boards for distance and exploring.

Racing Paddleboards – fast, efficient boards for training and competition.

Surfing Paddleboards – surf-style shapes for waves and playful performance.

Choosing the right board (without overthinking it)

If you want easy stability, start with an all-round shape in an appropriate width for your balance and confidence. If you want distance and glide, go touring (typically longer boards that track straighter). If your goal is speed, look at race boards with narrower outlines. And if you’re aiming for waves, a surf SUP shape will feel more manoeuvrable and “surfboard-like”.

Inflatable vs hard board? Inflatables win for convenience and travel. Hard boards win for outright performance. Both can be brilliant — it’s about what you’ll use most.

Paddle Board FAQs

What’s the best paddle board for beginners?

Most beginners do best on an all-round shape with enough width for stability. If you tell us your height/weight and where you’ll paddle (river, sea, lakes), we’ll recommend a sensible starting point that you won’t instantly outgrow.

Inflatable or hard board: which should I choose?

Inflatables are easier to store and transport and work brilliantly for most recreational paddlers. Hard boards deliver more glide and performance, especially for touring, surf and racing. The “best” choice is the one you’ll use most.

What length paddle board do I need for touring?

If you’re planning longer paddles and want easier straight-line tracking, touring shapes (often 12’+ boards) are the go-to. They glide better and feel more efficient over distance.

Do I need a specific paddle for my board?

A good paddle makes a bigger difference than most people expect. We’ll help you match paddle length and blade size to your height, strength and paddling style — and you can compare paddles at the Test Centre too.

Can I try a paddle board before I buy?

Yes — book our SUP Test Centre in Southampton and try up to 3 boards and 3 paddles in one session. It’s £25 per person, refundable against a paddleboard purchase.
