Description

If you want one foil wing set that covers the biggest chunk of real-world wingfoiling, this is it. The Duotone Free 2.0 Foil Wing Set is the balanced, confidence-building all-rounder in Duotone’s latest foil range, designed for riders who want easy lift, predictable handling and enough performance to keep progressing rather than outgrowing it too quickly.

In plain English, the Free 2.0 is the foil to choose when you want winging to feel easier, calmer and more intuitive without ending up on something dull or overly basic. It gets up early, stays composed through speed changes, and turns in a way that feels natural rather than locked-in or twitchy.

Where the Free 2.0 sits in the Duotone foil range

The Free 2.0 sits in a very smart place in the Duotone line-up. If you are completely new to foiling, heavier, or want maximum lift and the easiest possible first flights, the Duotone Aero Lift SLS is the more beginner-led route. If you are already flying confidently and want more speed, glide and efficiency for longer pumps or more performance-focused riding, the Duotone Glide 2.0 SLS is the step up.

The Free 2.0 is the sweet spot between those two. It is the foil for riders who want a proper all-round wingfoil setup that feels forgiving enough to progress on, but lively enough to stay fun once the basics are sorted.

Why choose the Duotone Free 2.0 Foil Wing Set?

  • Easy, gradual lift: gets you flying without needing perfect pumping technique.
  • Stable through take-off and touchdown: less drama when learning, relaunching or dealing with messy water.
  • Wide speed range: happy at slower learning speeds but still composed when you start pushing on.
  • Natural carving feel: more intuitive in turns than many “learner” foils.
  • Strong long-term value: a foil you can genuinely progress on rather than replacing immediately.
  • Sensible matched pairing: each front wing is paired with the PX stabiliser that makes the setup feel balanced from day one.

Choosing the right size

1300 / PX195
The smallest and loosest-feeling option in the range. Best for lighter riders, stronger winds, or anyone wanting the most agile feel while still keeping the Free 2.0’s forgiving nature.

1600 / PX225
The most versatile “one foil” option for a lot of UK riders. A great choice if you want a broad spread of use across freeride sessions, progression, cruising and small-wave winging.

1900 / PX260
The easiest-lifting option here. Best for heavier riders, lighter winds, earliest take-offs and the calmest, most planted feel through progression.

Helpful reading & buying advice

Is the Duotone Free 2.0 a good first wingfoil foil?

Yes, for many riders it is an excellent first “proper” foil because it offers easy lift, strong pitch stability and a forgiving feel without being something you will outgrow too quickly. If you are a complete beginner, a heavier rider, or want the absolute easiest first-flight experience, the Aero Lift SLS is still the more beginner-led option.

What is the difference between the Free 2.0 and the Glide 2.0 SLS?

The Free 2.0 is the more balanced all-rounder. It is easier-going, calmer at low speed and more progression-friendly. The Glide 2.0 SLS is the faster, more efficient option for riders who want more pump, more distance and a more performance-led feel.

Which size should I choose?

As a rule of thumb, lighter riders or those riding in stronger wind can usually go smaller, while heavier riders or those wanting earlier lift in lighter wind should go larger. The 1600/PX225 will make the most sense for a lot of riders wanting one versatile setup. If you want tailored advice, send us your weight, board size, ability level and usual conditions and we will point you in the right direction.

Can I use this for more than just wingfoiling?

The Free 2.0 is designed as an all-round foil and has the sort of lift, stability and turning feel that suit a wide range of freeride foiling. In practice though, it makes the most sense for riders prioritising wingfoil progression, freeride sessions and small-wave use.

Can I try a setup before buying?

Yes. If you are actively choosing your next board, foil or full setup, our Try It Now at The SUP Co x Lymington service is built for exactly that. It is one of the best ways to avoid an expensive mismatch and get properly dialled into the right kit.

Specifications

  • Features

    Passive take-off
The Free 2.0 is designed to lift smoothly and progressively. That matters because early flights feel calmer and less intimidating, especially when your timing is still developing.

    Pitch-stable feel
One of the most important things in a progression foil is how settled it feels fore and aft. The Free 2.0 stays composed rather than constantly trying to climb or dive, which helps you build confidence faster.

    Lifty centre section
Duotone have put plenty of usable surface area through the middle of the wing. On the water, that translates to easier low-speed lift, friendlier stall behaviour and less punishment for imperfect technique.

    Thinned-out tips
This keeps the foil from feeling overly barge-like in turns. You still get the lift and security you want, but with a more responsive and playful feel once you start carving.

    Modern moustache-style curvature
This updated outline helps the wing feel controlled and intuitive, and it also makes those occasional tip breaches less dramatic than they can be on twitchier shapes.

    Hybrid carbon/fibreglass construction
This construction balances stiffness, strength, durability and price really well. It is a practical choice for riders who want performance and toughness without immediately stepping into the top-end D/LAB price bracket.

    Matched PX stabiliser pairing
A foil only feels right when the front wing and rear stabiliser are working together. This set takes the guesswork out by pairing each Free 2.0 size with the PX stabiliser Duotone recommend for that wing.
