Duotone Foil Assist AL Complete with MIDFISH 5'8 & Glide 2.0 SLS 1100 – Lightly Used
This very lightly used Duotone Foil Assist complete setup brings together one of the most interesting assisted-foiling packages in the Duotone range: the full Foil Assist AL system, a 5'8" carbon MIDFISH foil board (58 Litres) and the highly efficient Glide 2.0 SLS 1100 foil with its correctly matched H210 rear stabiliser.
It is a particularly strong setup for riders who already understand foiling and want more take-offs, easier access to waves and bumps, better light-wind sessions and more time actually flying without moving to the heavier feel of a conventional full eFoil.
The complete setup has been lightly used and carefully looked after. Protective covers for the supplied foil components are included. Please note that there is no board bag included for the MIDFISH.

Why This Particular Setup Works So Well
The important part here is that this is not simply an electric mast attached to a random foil and board. Each component complements the others.
The 5'8" MIDFISH has enough length and waterline to build speed efficiently before take-off, while its relatively narrow 20" outline keeps it feeling much more connected and manoeuvrable once flying. The Glide 2.0 SLS 1100 provides early lift and excellent pump-and-glide efficiency, while the H210 stabiliser is Duotone's recommended pairing for the 1100.
The 74cm Aero 3BS fuselage gives the package a slightly calmer, more pitch-stable character than the shorter performance fuselages. That makes particularly good sense for Foil Assist, where predictable take-offs and smooth acceleration matter more than making the foil unnecessarily twitchy.
Once flying, you can reduce or remove the assistance and enjoy the efficient Glide 2.0 foil in much the same way you would on a conventional setup.
Duotone Foil Assist AL
The key difference between Duotone Foil Assist and many external foil-assist systems is where the motor and batteries are placed.
The motor is integrated into the 84cm aluminium mast, while the batteries are carried in Duotone's waist harness rather than being mounted underneath the board. Moving that battery weight away from the board helps the MIDFISH retain a much lighter, more conventional foil-board feel.
- Integrated mast motor: a clean setup without a large battery pod attached beneath the board.
- Approximately 33kg of thrust: enough assistance to make take-offs and connections significantly more repeatable.
- 2-blade folding propeller: opens when power is applied and folds when assistance is removed to reduce drag.
- Waist-mounted batteries: keeps battery mass away from the board and reduces swing weight.
- Remote watch control: power can be brought in when required without turning the setup into a conventional continuously powered eFoil.
- Modular system: alternative compatible foil systems can be used later with the appropriate Foil Assist adapter.
What Foil Assist Changes on the Water
The best way to think about Foil Assist is not as an eFoil, but as a way of removing some of the frustrating parts of conventional foiling.
For prone and surf foilers, the motor can help you accelerate into weaker waves and get back outside with less paddling. For wing foilers, it can provide the extra push needed during marginal wind or through a lull. For downwind and pump-focused riders, it gives you more opportunities to get onto foil and practise linking sections rather than repeatedly resetting after failed starts.
You still need to foil the board yourself. Balance, pitch control, pumping and carving remain part of the experience. The motor simply gives you another tool to create or recover the speed you need.

Duotone MIDFISH 5'8 – 58L
The Duotone MIDFISH was designed specifically with Foil Assist and modern mid-length foiling in mind.
At 5'8" x 20" and 58 litres, it has enough length to accelerate efficiently without becoming a large, wide board. That matters because Foil Assist works best when the board itself releases cleanly from the water rather than relying on motor power to overcome an inefficient shape.
- 5'8" / 172.7cm long: good waterline length for efficient acceleration and take-off.
- 20" / 50.8cm wide: narrow enough to feel responsive and surf-oriented once flying.
- 58 litres: compact performance volume for riders with existing foil ability.
- Full carbon construction: stiff and direct underfoot.
- PVC reinforcement through the standing area: adds strength where the board takes the greatest loads.
- Low rocker: improves acceleration and helps the board build the speed required for efficient lift-off.
- Fishtail: provides support during take-off while helping organise the Foil Assist cable and leash behind the rider.
- Forward foil tracks: help the relatively long board feel shorter and more manoeuvrable once flying.
- V-bottom concave: helps the board recover cleanly from touchdowns.
- Footstrap inserts: supports straight or V-style front strap configurations.
Duotone recommends the 5'8" MIDFISH for riders up to approximately 100kg, although rider ability, discipline and whether you need the board to float you comfortably are equally important when deciding if 58 litres is appropriate.
Glide 2.0 SLS 1100 Front Wing
The Glide 2.0 SLS 1100 is one of the strongest all-round pairings for this type of setup.
It provides considerably more glide and pumping efficiency than a conventional lower-aspect freeride wing but retains enough lift and low-speed support to make assisted take-offs straightforward. That makes it a good bridge between accessible Foil Assist riding and genuinely high-performance free-flight foiling once the motor is no longer required.
- Surface area: 1100cm²
- Span: 106cm
- Aspect ratio: 10.2
- Construction: Duotone SLS carbon
- Recommended stabiliser: H210
- Best for: pump and glide, wing, prone, downwind and assisted foiling
The Glide 2.0 generates a useful amount of lift for its physical size. This helps the foil take off early while retaining the speed and efficiency needed once you begin linking waves, bumps or longer pumping sections.
Duotone H210 Rear Stabiliser
The setup includes the correct Duotone Stabilizer H210 rear wing for the Glide 2.0 SLS 1100.
The H-series is Duotone's high-aspect stabiliser family and is designed specifically around efficiency, projection and low drag. The H210 measures 210cm² with a 42cm span and 8.3 aspect ratio.
Paired with the Glide 1100, it provides the pitch support needed to keep the foil predictable while still allowing the complete setup to carry speed extremely efficiently once the motor has been switched off.
74cm Aero AL 3BS Fuselage
This package uses the longer 74cm Duotone Aero AL 3BS fuselage.
Compared with Duotone's shorter 60cm and 66cm options, the 74cm gives the foil more longitudinal stability. In practical terms, the foil feels calmer in pitch and easier to keep level, which suits the Glide 1100 and Foil Assist concept very well.
It is particularly useful for riders who value predictable take-offs, efficient pumping and downwind-style riding more than extremely loose surf-foil handling.
Who Is This Setup For?
This is a very capable package, but we would primarily recommend it to somebody who already has at least some foil experience.
It makes particular sense for:
- Prone and surf foilers wanting more waves per session
- Wing foilers wanting to make marginal or inconsistent wind usable
- Downwind riders working on starts and bump connection
- Parawing riders wanting assistance for difficult starts or transitions
- Experienced foilers wanting to explore Foil Assist without adding a large battery pod to the board
- Riders wanting one complete, correctly matched Duotone system rather than sourcing the individual components separately
Who Might Want Something Different?
If you are completely new to foiling and have never controlled a foil before, the MIDFISH 58L and Glide 1100 are still performance-orientated pieces of equipment. Foil Assist makes generating speed easier, but it does not automatically provide foil control.
A rider looking primarily for relaxed, continuously powered eFoiling should look instead at a complete eFoil. If you already own a board and foil that you love and simply want to add assistance, the standalone Duotone Foil Assist Set AL may make more financial sense.
If you are comparing systems, our Duotone Foil Assist vs Foil Drive Gen 2 guide explains where the two concepts differ, while our Foil Assist Explained guide compares Duotone, Foil Drive and Waydoo.

Buying a Used Foil Assist Package
There is a significant amount of equipment in a complete Foil Assist build once the motor system, batteries, charger, remote, board, front wing, stabiliser, fuselage and adapter are all accounted for. Buying this lightly used package therefore makes particular sense for somebody who wants to enter the Duotone system as a complete setup rather than gradually building it component by component.
It also gives you a useful upgrade path. The MIDFISH can be ridden without assistance, the Glide 2.0 can be used as a conventional foil and Duotone's adapter concept means the Foil Assist mast can form the basis of alternative compatible foil combinations later.

FAQs
Is this setup new?
No. This is a lightly used complete setup. It may show minor cosmetic signs associated with normal use, but it has seen relatively little use.
Does the package include a board bag?
No. Protective covers for the supplied foil components are included, but there is no MIDFISH board bag included with this package.
Which rear stabiliser is supplied with the Glide 2.0 SLS 1100?
The setup includes the Duotone H210 rear stabiliser. This is Duotone's recommended H-series pairing for the Glide 2.0 SLS 1100.
Is this a complete Foil Assist setup?
Yes. This package combines the Foil Assist AL system with the MIDFISH 5'8 board, Duotone Foil Assist adapter, 74cm 3BS fuselage, Glide 2.0 SLS 1100 front wing and H210 rear stabiliser. It is being offered as a matched used setup rather than as individual components.
Is Duotone Foil Assist the same as an eFoil?
No. Foil Assist is designed to support conventional foiling rather than replace it. You use motor assistance to generate speed for take-off, recover from lulls or connect sections, then continue flying and controlling the foil yourself.
How long does the Foil Assist battery last?
Typical assisted use is approximately 35–60 minutes depending on rider weight, foil efficiency, water state and how frequently the motor is used. In practice, most riders use short bursts of power rather than holding continuous throttle.
Is the 5'8 MIDFISH suitable for a beginner?
That depends heavily on rider weight and previous foil experience. The 58L MIDFISH is narrow and relatively low volume, so while its length makes take-offs efficient, it is not a large beginner wing board. It makes most sense for riders who already have some balance and foil control.
Why use the longer 74cm fuselage?
The 74cm fuselage adds pitch stability and creates a calmer, more predictable foil than Duotone's shorter performance fuselages. That suits the Glide 1100 particularly well for Foil Assist, pumping and downwind-style use.
Can I use the MIDFISH and Glide foil without the motor?
Yes. The MIDFISH is a genuine foil board and the Glide 2.0 is a conventional high-performance foil wing. The Foil Assist system adds powered assistance when required rather than making the underlying board and foil dependent on continuous motor power.
