The Duotone Mast SLS 2.0 QM combines the noticeably more direct and efficient feel of a carbon foil mast with one of the most practical mounting systems in the Duotone range. It is aimed at riders who want a genuine performance upgrade from aluminium, but also want to spend less time assembling their foil before and after every session.

The key difference is Duotone's Quickmount system. Rather than removing the complete mast plate from your board every time you pack away, the aluminium Quickmount base plate can remain fixed in your preferred track position. The carbon mast then connects to or disconnects from that plate using a single Quickmount fixing. That makes it particularly useful if you foil regularly, transport your board inside a vehicle, swap equipment frequently or simply want to preserve your carefully chosen mast position between sessions.

For 2027, this convenience is combined with a completely updated tapered SLS 2.0 mast profile. Inspired by Duotone's D/LAB development, the mast uses a shorter, thinner and more hydrodynamically efficient profile to reduce wetted surface and drag while retaining the stiffness needed for precise foil control. What does Quickmount actually do?

With a normal plate-mounted foil mast, packing the board flat generally means removing the four bolts that hold the mast plate into the board tracks. Once you put the foil back together, you then need to return the mast to the correct track position.

Quickmount separates those jobs. The aluminium base plate stays attached to your board, while the carbon mast can be detached from the plate using the Quickmount connection. This is a deceptively useful feature if you foil several times a week: your preferred track position remains unchanged and there is considerably less assembly at the beach.

It is also worth clarifying that Quickmount relates to the mast-to-board connection. Attaching your fuselage, front wing and tail still requires the appropriate Duotone hardware and correct tools.

New SLS 2.0 tapered mast profile

The biggest performance development is not simply that the mast is carbon. Duotone has refined the shape itself. The SLS 2.0 uses a tapered chord and thickness distribution, reducing the amount of mast moving through the water where material is not required while retaining additional structure closer to the board where loads are greatest.

Which Duotone Mast SLS 2.0 QM size should I choose?

76cm

The 76cm is the more compact and lower-drag option. Duotone positions it for entry Wing Foiling, Pump Foiling, Prone Foiling, Parawing and Downwind use. The shorter mast gives a direct feel, makes getting started easier and reduces the amount of mast travelling through the water when pumping onto foil.

It is particularly attractive to prone and pump foilers, riders using smaller boards, and anyone who values efficiency over maximum clearance. The compromise is less height above the water, so riders regularly dealing with larger chop, steep swell or heavily banked turns may prefer the 84cm.

84cm

For most Wing Foilers wanting one mast, 84cm is the natural all-round choice. It provides more clearance in chop and swell without becoming unnecessarily long, while retaining the direct SLS feel and low-drag characteristics of the new profile.

It is the size we would normally start with for freeride Wing Foiling, wave riding, freefly sessions and riders wanting a versatile mast that can cover several different foil disciplines.

Who might be better with another mast?

If price and outright durability are more important than weight and hydrodynamic efficiency, an aluminium Duotone mast remains a sensible choice. If you want Duotone's highest-end carbon construction and are willing to prioritise performance above Quickmount convenience, a D/LAB mast sits above SLS in the range.

Likewise, riders needing a longer mast should look at the standard Mast SLS 2.0, which adds a 92cm option alongside its integrated carbon plate construction.
