The Duotone Glide 3.0 SLS is the high-aspect front wing for riders who want to go further with less effort. With an aspect ratio of approximately 12, a new stall-friendly profile inspired by Duotone's Crest programme, optimised chord distribution and distinctive upturned wing tips, the Glide 3.0 SLS delivers the sort of glide normally associated with highly specialised high-aspect foils without becoming excessively demanding through turns or at lower speeds.

For experienced wing foilers it is a superb freeride and freefly upgrade. For parawing and downwind riders it offers the efficiency to connect increasingly small bumps. For prone foilers it provides excellent pumping range and projection. Importantly, the larger 1250 and 1400 sizes open this type of high-aspect performance to lighter wind, smaller swell and even inland and lake-based foiling where maintaining flight between very small pieces of energy is often the biggest challenge.

If your priority is maximum glide, efficient pumping and a wide usable speed range, rather than the tightest possible surf turns or beginner-first stability, the Glide 3.0 SLS is one of the most interesting front wings in the 2027 Duotone range.

Where the Glide 3.0 SLS sits in the Duotone foil range

The Glide 3.0 SLS sits towards the high-aspect, efficiency-focused end of the Duotone range. It is considerably more glide and pump orientated than a conventional freeride foil, but Duotone has deliberately avoided making it a one-dimensional straight-line wing.

If wave riding, tight carving and very loose manoeuvrability are the priority, the Duotone Crest SLS is the more surf-orientated option. The Crest uses a medium-aspect concept and prioritises turning response, breaching ability and playful handling. The Glide 3.0 SLS is the better choice when maintaining speed, pumping through flat sections and connecting distant bumps matter more.

Above the SLS sits the Duotone Glide 3.0 D/LAB. The D/LAB is the premium route for riders chasing Duotone's highest level of foil performance, while the Glide 3.0 SLS offers an excellent balance of performance, compatibility and value, together with a particularly useful expanded range extending all the way to 1400cm².

Why choose the Duotone Glide 3.0 SLS?

Glide 3.0: more glide without losing the fun

High-aspect foils are sometimes exceptionally efficient but quite reluctant to change direction. Duotone has addressed this by introducing a pronounced moustache-style curvature with subtly upturned wing tips.

In practical terms, the Glide 3.0 feels freer from rail to rail. You can roll into turns, redirect towards another bump and make corrections without the foil feeling as though it simply wants to track in a straight line. That matters enormously for real downwind and freefly riding, where efficiency is useful only if you can actually position the foil where the next piece of energy is.

The upturned tips also improve behaviour when the wing approaches the surface. An occasional tip breach does not automatically mean the end of the ride, giving competent riders considerably more freedom when carving, riding steeper bumps or pushing the foil close to the surface.

Crest-inspired stall-friendly profile

One of the most important Glide 3.0 developments is its new profile. Drawing on lessons from the Crest platform, Duotone has created a high-aspect foil that produces useful lift at relatively low speeds without the abrupt stall behaviour sometimes associated with performance foils.

This gives the Glide 3.0 a very useful combination: it can carry speed efficiently once moving, but it does not demand that you constantly keep the foil travelling at maximum pace. When pumping, the wing holds flight through lower-energy moments more effectively, buying you valuable time to reach the next bump or generate another pump cycle.

For downwinders and parawingers this translates directly into more successful connections. For wing foilers it means more time freeflying with the wing flagged. For prone riders it means longer pump-outs and fewer rides ending simply because your speed has dropped slightly below the foil's narrow operating window.

Optimised chord taper

The Glide 3.0 does not achieve its efficiency simply by increasing span. The chord distribution has also been refined to reduce unnecessary drag while maintaining the lift and control needed through the central part of the wing.

The result is a front wing that converts each pump more effectively into forward projection. Rather than feeling as though you are repeatedly lifting the board vertically, the Glide encourages efficient forward movement - exactly what you want when crossing flat sections or linking distant pieces of swell.

Who is the Glide 3.0 SLS for?

We would primarily recommend the Glide 3.0 SLS to riders who are already comfortably foiling and now want to improve efficiency. It is particularly well suited to:

• Wing foilers wanting more glide and longer freefly sections.
• Riders moving towards downwind or parawing foiling.
• Prone foilers wanting stronger pump efficiency and longer connections.
• Experienced freeriders wanting an efficient foil that still turns naturally.
• Riders trying to make the most of marginal wind or lower-energy swell.
• Inland and lake foilers needing enough efficiency to connect very small bumps.
• Existing Duotone riders looking for a substantial pump-and-glide upgrade while remaining within the Duotone component system.

Who may be better with something else?

The Glide 3.0 SLS is not primarily designed as a first-flight beginner foil. Its performance is accessible for a high-aspect design, but riders learning the basics will normally progress faster on a more entry or freeride-focused foil.

Likewise, if your entire session revolves around tight surf turns and maximum roll response, consider the Crest SLS. If you want the most performance-focused version of the Glide concept and are prepared to step into the premium construction and component route, consider the Glide 3.0 D/LAB.

Which Glide 3.0 SLS size should I choose?

There are five Glide 3.0 SLS sizes from 825 to 1400cm². Do not choose purely by surface area: rider weight, board efficiency, take-off technique, conditions and intended discipline all influence the correct choice.

825cm²

The smallest SLS Glide 3.0 and the most performance-orientated option in this construction. It suits competent riders who already generate take-off speed effectively and want maximum efficiency without carrying unnecessary foil area. A strong option for powered winging, faster freefly riding and technically proficient prone or downwind riders.

950cm²

An excellent performance all-round size for accomplished wing foilers. It adds useful low-speed support over the 825 while retaining impressive speed, glide and responsiveness. For riders who want one Glide for winging, freefly and occasional downwind use, the 950 is an important size to consider.

1100cm²

The middle of the range and a very versatile Glide 3.0 option. There is enough area to make pumping and lower-energy conditions considerably easier while still retaining the high-aspect efficiency that defines the range. Particularly appealing where sessions mix winging, parawing, freefly and pump-and-glide riding.

1250cm²

A serious low-energy performer. The 1250 is aimed at riders prioritising early lift, extended pumping and the ability to work with smaller bumps rather than simply chasing top-end speed. It makes particular sense for parawing, downwind and light-wind wing sessions.

1400cm²

The maximum low-end Glide 3.0 SLS. This is where the new generation opens particularly interesting possibilities for small-bump downwinding, inland foiling and parawing sessions where there simply is not much natural energy available. Choose the 1400 when maintaining flight and linking marginal energy takes priority over having the most compact foil beneath your feet.

Recommended stabilisers

Duotone provides two different stabiliser recommendations because the tail has a significant influence on how the Glide feels.

PX stabilisers are the recommended route for wing foiling and Foil Assist use. They suit riders looking for efficient performance with good control as speed builds.

H stabilisers are recommended for parawing and downwind use. The high-aspect H concept is designed around pump and glide efficiency, helping the whole foil maintain momentum and projection when the rider is relying on swell or pumping rather than continuous wing power.

Upgrade to a Monobloc tail

The Glide 3.0 SLS also has an interesting performance upgrade path. By adding the new Duotone Frontpiece AL 3BS, SLS front wings can be combined with Duotone D/LAB tails and Monobloc stabilisers.

For Glide riders specifically, the Duotone Monobloc Tail H D/LAB is the glide-focused option. Its integrated high-aspect stabiliser and tail are designed to minimise drag and maximise pumping efficiency. This is particularly interesting for committed downwind and parawing riders wanting to extract more efficiency from a Glide 3.0 SLS setup without replacing the front wing.

The Frontpiece AL 3BS is especially relevant to the larger 1250 and 1400 Glide SLS sizes, allowing riders to access the performance advantages of Duotone's D/LAB tail platform while retaining the larger SLS front wings.

Choosing a mast for the Glide 3.0 SLS

The Glide 3.0 SLS is compatible with current Duotone mast systems. For a high-performance 2027 setup, the new Duotone Mast SLS 2.0 is a particularly natural pairing. Its tapered carbon profile is designed to reduce drag while maintaining the stiffness needed to control increasingly high-span front wings.

If quick assembly is important, the Duotone Mast SLS 2.0 Quickmount offers similar performance priorities with Duotone's tool-free Quickmount base system.

Glide 3.0 SLS vs Glide 3.0 D/LAB

Both versions share the same fundamental Glide 3.0 design direction: high aspect ratios, a stall-friendly profile, efficient chord distribution and moustache-style curvature with upturned tips.

The Glide 3.0 D/LAB is the premium performance route, with sizes from 600 to 1100cm² and Duotone's dedicated D/LAB construction and 3BS+ system. It is the choice for riders looking for the most refined, low-drag version of the platform.

The Glide 3.0 SLS starts at 825cm² and extends through 950, 1100, 1250 and 1400cm². That makes it particularly attractive to riders who want outstanding Glide 3.0 efficiency but either prefer the SLS route or need the extra lift and low-end performance offered by the larger sizes.

Glide 3.0 SLS vs Crest SLS

These are two very different but complementary Duotone foils.

Choose the Glide 3.0 SLS if your priorities are pump, sustained glide, downwind efficiency, parawing, longer freefly sections and covering distance with minimal effort.

Choose the Crest SLS if your priorities are surf, tighter turning, agility, tip breaches and a more manoeuvre-focused foil. The Crest's aspect ratio sits around 9, whereas the Glide approaches 12, so the difference in emphasis is substantial.

For riders trying to build a foil quiver rather than find one front wing to do absolutely everything, a Glide and Crest combination covers an exceptionally broad range of riding.

Our view

The Glide 3.0 SLS looks particularly important because Duotone has not simply chased a bigger aspect-ratio number. The combination of glide efficiency, low-speed support and a deliberately looser turning character addresses the reason many riders have historically hesitated before moving onto very high-aspect foils.

For UK riding, the larger sizes are especially interesting. We spend plenty of sessions dealing with imperfect wind, short-period swell and bumps that do not provide endless energy. A foil that keeps carrying through those gaps can transform the amount of usable riding you get from a session. The 1250 and 1400 also make the Glide concept far more relevant to inland and lake-based riders than previous performance high-aspect foils might have been.

For the competent rider wanting to move beyond simply staying on foil and start linking, pumping and travelling efficiently, the Glide 3.0 SLS is a very compelling upgrade.
