Duotone Foil Compatibility Guide: 3BS, 3BS+, Tails and Masts

Duotone foil compatibility is easiest to understand when the system is split into four parts: front wing, mast, frontpiece or fuselage, and tail or stabiliser. A product being described as SLS or D/LAB does not, by itself, prove that it connects directly to another part carrying the same label.

This guide focuses on the 2027 launch products: Glide 3.0 SLS and D/LAB, Crest SLS, Pop D/LAB, Mast SLS 2.0, the new Monobloc tails and Frontpiece AL 3BS.

Compatibility safety rule

Treat the matrix below as a buying guide, not a substitute for checking the exact product and size. Hardware, inserts and package contents can vary. If you are mixing generations or construction families, send us a list or photograph of every part before ordering.

What are Duotone 3BS and 3BS+?

3BS is Duotone's three-bolt mast-to-fuselage connection direction. The 2027 performance products introduce or support 3BS+, which adds a fourth fixing point where the compatible components are designed to use it.

The practical point is simple: count and labels are not enough. The front wing still needs the correct front connection, the mast needs the correct insert, and the tail needs the correct frontpiece or fuselage direction.

Duotone 2027 foil compatibility matrix

Front wing Supported direction Tail options described for launch Key requirement
Crest SLS SLS front-wing mount and current AL 3BS fuselages S, PX and H stabilisers; Monobloc via new frontpiece Use Frontpiece AL 3BS for a Monobloc tail
Glide 3.0 SLS Current Duotone mast and stabiliser direction Current stabilisers; Monobloc via new frontpiece Add Frontpiece AL 3BS for Monobloc builds
Glide 3.0 D/LAB D/LAB front-wing and tail direction D/LAB tails, H/S/PX stabilisers and new Monobloc tails Confirm selected tail and connection hardware
Pop D/LAB 3BS+ fourth-screw system Developed around Monobloc Tail F165 Use the complete 3BS+ configuration

Important: “supported direction” does not mean that every historical component, size or hardware kit is interchangeable. Obtain confirmation if the exact year or item number is uncertain.

What does the Frontpiece AL 3BS do?

The Duotone Frontpiece AL 3BS 2027 is a 23 cm connection component. Its role is to bridge supported SLS/original front wings to the newer D/LAB and Monobloc tail direction.

With the appropriate tail, the resulting assembled fuselage length is approximately 60–70 cm. That figure describes the system once connected; the product itself is not a complete 60–70 cm fuselage.

Who needs the Frontpiece AL 3BS?

  • A Crest SLS rider moving from an S, PX or H stabiliser configuration to a compatible Monobloc tail.
  • A Glide 3.0 SLS rider who wants to access the compatible Monobloc tail direction.
  • A rider building a new mixed SLS-front-wing and D/LAB/Monobloc-tail setup from confirmed parts.

You do not need to add it automatically to every 2027 basket. A complete conventional fuselage and stabiliser build may use its existing supported connection.

Mast SLS 2.0 or Mast SLS 2.0 Quickmount?

The Mast SLS 2.0 is a one-piece carbon mast in 76, 84 and 92 cm. The Mast SLS 2.0 Quickmount comes in 76 and 84 cm and uses a detachable alloy Quickmount baseplate.

Mast Sizes Choose it when...
Mast SLS 2.0 76, 84, 92 cm You want the one-piece direction or require 92 cm
Mast SLS 2.0 Quickmount 76, 84 cm Detaching the baseplate helps storage, transport or frequent rigging

Both new mast directions use the 3BS+ insert. That does not remove the need to verify every other component in the system.

Monobloc Tail H, Tail F and conventional stabilisers

The Monobloc Tail H D/LAB is the pump-and-glide direction. H130 uses a 43 cm tail and H150 a 40 cm tail. It is aimed at downwind, parawing and freefly efficiency.

The Monobloc Tail F D/LAB is the F165 freestyle and kite option with a compact 37 cm tail. It is developed as the natural partner for Pop D/LAB.

Existing H, S and PX stabiliser directions remain relevant for supported systems. The tail changes pitch feel, stability, pumping, roll and turning response; it should be chosen for the required behaviour rather than because it is the newest part.

Worked 2027 compatibility routes

Crest SLS with an established stabiliser

Use Crest SLS with a supported current AL 3BS fuselage and an appropriate S, PX or H stabiliser. Confirm size and hardware. The new frontpiece is not automatically required for this conventional route.

Crest SLS or Glide 3.0 SLS with a Monobloc tail

Add the Frontpiece AL 3BS between the supported SLS/original front wing and compatible D/LAB/Monobloc tail. Confirm the mast insert and fastening hardware.

Glide 3.0 D/LAB pump-and-glide build

Pair Glide 3.0 D/LAB with a confirmed D/LAB or Monobloc configuration. The Tail H D/LAB is the new high-aspect route for downwind, parawing and freefly.

Pop D/LAB freestyle build

The safest commercial starting point is the Pop D/LAB wing set, then a compatible 3BS+ mast direction. If buying separately, combine the Pop D/LAB front wing with Tail F165 and verify every fixing.

Compatibility checklist before checkout

  1. Record the exact name, year, size and item number of your front wing.
  2. Identify whether your current centre section is a full fuselage or a separate frontpiece and tail.
  3. Confirm the mast insert and whether the build requires 3BS+.
  4. Confirm the chosen stabiliser or Monobloc tail is supported.
  5. Check that every required screw and fitting is included or ordered.
  6. Check live package contents; a “wing set” does not necessarily include a mast.

Duotone foil compatibility FAQs

Can Crest SLS use a Monobloc tail?

Yes, using the new Frontpiece AL 3BS and a confirmed compatible Monobloc tail configuration. Crest SLS also supports current AL 3BS fuselage directions with S, PX and H stabilisers.

Can Glide 3.0 SLS use my current Duotone mast?

The launch information states that Glide 3.0 SLS works with current Duotone mast and stabiliser directions. Confirm the exact model, year and hardware before ordering, especially if adding a Monobloc tail.

Does the Frontpiece AL 3BS include a tail?

No. It is a 23 cm front connection component. The tail, mast and required hardware must be selected separately unless a live product package explicitly says otherwise.

Is Pop D/LAB compatible with Tail H?

Pop D/LAB is developed around the F165 freestyle tail and 3BS+ connection. Do not substitute a different tail without Duotone or The SUP Company confirming the exact configuration.
